This was last year. This year it is ten times worse and the state won't do anything.

These are questions, out of curiosity: Has the association in Pickerel Cover petitioned for an approval for treatment of the cove? Does the association have an expense account that could support such a project? Several small lake associations are treating these issues, but at a hug cost, the state only subsidisng a portion.

The problem with treatments on Winni's coves, as I would see it, is that you cannot stop the infestation from returning year after year.

Good luck!!

The homeowners surrounding Pickerel cove are part of an organization. Last year when they submitted the paperwork to have the cove treated for milfoil the request was denied by the state. There was a treatment done two years ago. This is the second season without any type of treatment. Boats and jet skis that are owned by the homeowners are having great difficulty getting to Paugus Bay because the milfoil wraps around the props. The city of Laconia did give the homeowners a very small decrease in property taxes because the property is taxed as water front property. I have never seen anyone swimming in this cove.

It would seem that the state would want to treat such an infestation - all that will occur is that the milfoil will creep out of the cove into Paugus Bay - am sure it already is flowing in that direction. Every time am resident of the cove heads out into Paugus he is dragging the weeds with him. Seems pennywise and pound foolish for the state to be overlooking this situation.
