Hi all,
I might be the last one on the planet to know this, but just in case...:D
I brought the kids over to Surf Coaster today and is is closed. I called up and learned that they are out of business again and not opening for the season.

A story in the paper earlier this spring said they were hoping to sell it to a national hotel chain builder. Isn't that the same story for the stone wall corners field just downhill from Funspot. That area would sure go from bust to boom with casino gambling. "Come to the WEIRS, and win big!"

Sorry to hear this. I went there for the first time in 1984 with the family (I was just a child 11/12) and went over the years from time to time. I checked it out every time I drove by, and am sorry to hear that this has happened. It really had become a little price prohibitive...$27/$28 a head...for the size of the place. Just too expensive.
Isn't it strange? Everytime something like this happens, you feel like a little piece of your life has slipped away. Every time I went by, I would recall some story of being there over the years, and now...poof, GONE! Being 40 sucks....

So sorry to hear about the Coaster closing for good.
It figures, this year the grandkids were going to be old enough to go down the slides. Oh well. Another Lakes Region attraction taken away.
