I noticed over the weekend that the marker outside of Glendale is now a blinking red light at night. What other changes are people seeing in their travels?

Blinking RED ?? With no companion (green) -- That's a new one on me --

What's that suppose to indicate?

Green on inland waters would be a new one to me. Green is used in coastal waters, black is inland.

It is a red blinking light, but I did not see what color the actual marker was at night.

If memory serves me, the entry to the Wiers Channell is red blinking with green blinking companion on the no wake cans. An odd set up I admit!! But that's why it caught my attention.

I thought there's been a blinking red light there for years. Am I imagining this? Don't know how I could get out of Glendale so easily in the dark without it.

Coming from the broads, the Glendale entrance has always been a red and white marker with a flashing white bouy at night. This is to keep you off the shoals near Rock Island. It is mainly for the larger craft, because the water depth around the bouy is sufficient for small vessels. It also helps the Mount Washington navigate the area as it passes thru on occasion. There are also alot of fixed keel sailboats going into Fay's that need the deeper water.

I noticed over the weekend that the marker outside of Glendale is now a blinking red light at night.Do you mean that light #26 is now a flashing red (instead of white) or do you mean some other light? If some other light, could you be more specific as to location.

I've asked the Marine Patrol, however, they have not yet responded.

It always was a flashing white but I noticed last weekend that it was flashing red...??? I am going out again Friday night and will check it again, but I must have gone by it 3-4 times last weekend and it was flashing red at night. I swear I am not crazy! :D

If #26 is the one on the way out of Smith Cove/Glendale heading to the right was you round the point then that is the one. I do not have a chart here to verify the marker# against.

Yellow vs white. Back in the old days of pre-2003 or so, all the flashers were a long slow yellow which was nice....very relaxing. The replacements are a rapid short blinky white. Blinkety-blink-blink.....I miss the old slow lights, these newer ones are making me nervous. Just above my side-by-side tv and web-tv screens I can see about five different flashers, all at once.....too many blink-blink-blink...

FLL, If you've got side-by side TV and web-tv screens, there's more than just flashing markers that are making you nervous. Time to get in touch with the ludite within. Woops, that little guy laughing probably makes you edgy, huh? ;)

I spoke with MP this morning, they had no clue. They were going to send someone out to check it this morning.

FL 26 IS the last marker coming out of Glendale when going south of Locke Island.

FL 26 IS the last marker coming out of Glendale when going south of Locke Island.

When I came in from Welch on Sunday morning, I was giving the gps a checkout so I ran right next to FL 26 and happened to note that the light lens cap was clear plastic. Unless the bulb itself is red, the light would flash white.

BTW, while the Bizer chart has FL 26 correctly marked, the c-map chip based on the map has the light noted as FL 53. The real FL 53 is correctly labeled. This correction is noted on the Bizer web site.

Right.FL 53 is the light as you go around Locke to the west side.
