Where to look for an Alton Bay boat slip?

Hey guys,

I have a 22 ft larson cabrio, and was wondering if you know of any good deals on where I could keep my boat so I dont have to tow it all the time. I know I cant fit under that bridge at the end of alton to go into that Marina. One guy quoted me $900 if i pay before the end of this month just to leave it on his parking lot up there. If anyone has anything to offer let me know. Wether its on land or water. I like to use it in the ocean so I wouldnt even keep it up on the lake 1/2 the time. Any advice is appreciated!

Martin I think Ames Farm will let you leave your boat parked on a trailer.

Another possibility is to scan the classifieds and look for privately owned slips for rent. It's not uncommon for someone to have a finger dock and have one side used by the owner, the other side open for (seasonal) rental. You wouldn't be able to overnight at most and they'd be w/o water, electricity and cable (ie - it's a dock not a marina) but that might work for you. A quick check of The Baysider turned up just 1 such possibility (in Alton, more elsewhere).

We use Ames Farm, pleanty of parking and 2 very nice ramps. Last year it was $850.00 for the season and you can also do it monthly. We go in on Friday night and leave on Sunday early evening, at those times you get the ramps to yourself. Satuarday is a different story, can get pretty funny watching the action, it's almost worth the money just for that. I highly recommend Ames, Don is a true Laker.

I was driving through Alton Bay on Saturday and there was a sign for a dock/slip that was available on the right just before the bridge (heading West on 11) across the street from the two marinas there. I don't have any more details for you, and wish I had written down the phone number off the sign, but perhaps another member in that area has seen it and can reply with the information.

Thanks for the info guys really appreciate it! I will look into that other marina (ames Farm) for $850...how far is that from the bridge at the end of alton? Also if anyone gets info on that sign for a boat slip let me know! very interested. Hey Formula260ss do you sleep in the boat over the weekend? If so is the boat on the water or on the trailer when you sleep on it...

No I don't sleep on the boat, we stay out on Rattlesanke. Ames Farm does not allow sleeping on the boat while it is on the trailer. I'm not sure anyone allows that with a dry slip.

Martin -- Ames Farm is about 10-11 miles beyond (heading to Laconia) Alton Bay on Rte 11. From the water side you will be situated roughly behind Diamond Island -- This could be a good thing or a bad thing depending on your perspective. Bad - Your not in Alton Bay, if thats what you like and are comfortable with. Good - Your more centrally located to allow you to get in the Merideth direction faster & out around the Islands i.e Diamond, Rattlesnake, Mark, Timber, etc

West Alton Marina generally has valet spots available, Parker Marina and a lot of Islanders slip at Andrews Marine.

A neighbor of mine also rents slips at his dock and gives you a parking spot. However, it is a $2800 spot

The gas station on Main Street in Alton directly across from the Banknorth has a sign advertising a slip for rent. I saw it Wednesday of this week.

Ames Farm is great if you don't mind a dry slip and it puts you right out to good boating waters.

hmm thanks for all the helpful info, looks like Downing's is a decent price at $900 wonder if I offer $600 what he's say. I live an hour and a half away so its not to convienent for me just to drive around for the heck of it to look for slip ads. But Ill be trailering there with in the next month so I will def. have to look for a spot. Appreciate all the help guys and I will def. ask more questions if I need to

With the price of gas this year, expect another slow down. It can't hurt to offer less. If he laughs, then just pay up.

I think jrc is right,with the expected gas prices I think you'll find alot of people changing summer plans this year.your dollar will only streach so far,however it'll cut down on lake traffic for sure
