View Full Version : Hey, can anyone open the Alton Webcam?

I have tried in vain to open the Alton Webcam, but keep getting a message that the site is no longer available. Is this only a problem with me? I opened it just fine the other day.

It is http://www.lakewebcams.com/lakewebcams_070102/Slu/AltonCam.html.

I can't even open the home page!

WOW -- Timing is everything on this site !!

I just sat down with my Sunday morning coffee and decided to get my "Lake Fix" and view all the cams around the shoreline -- Wiers, Wiers Channel, Abakee, etc and was futzin with the Alton cam (unable to get it up from my bookmark) -- Thanks PMJ -- your link worked

and as I was sitting there debating about having lunch and then going down to the bay to see what was going on, on the cam, entering from the right were two snowmobilers moving at a pretty rapid clip, who proceeded to head straight to the runway which has been plowed, enter it from the south end, and appeared to go all the way to the north end.:( Fortunately no planes landing, and with the runway plowed, and wet conditions, running a snowmobile over it can put ruts into the ice/slush making it impossible to use the runway any longer. Makes you wonder if they were snowbiling on Lily Pond if they would cross the street and run down Laconia's runway! :rolleye1:

Does anyone know why the view from the Alton cam was changed and if the change is permanent?

Proving again that you can't please all the people, I do miss the view of the town docks and the long view up the bay.

Well as of 7:45am this morning, the cam was on and facing down the Bay (it's usual view)
