Official Pinball Wizard
By ERIN PLUMMER
At age 3, Ron Mowry spent his days in his father's doughnut shop at Samaha's Store in Plymouth. The year was 1948 and the pinball machine in the corner was his babysitter as his father made doughnuts.
It was only a prelude to the straight 72 hours he spent at a pinball machine in Florida in 1974, setting the first world's record in pinball and making him the official "Pinball Wizard." More than 30 years later, Mowry is officially recognized with a listing in the Guinness Book of World Records and a book and movie about his achievement are in the works.
