Hi Guys and Gals,
I have a question to ask. I have seen this "Thing," around the lake, in some peoples yards. It sort of looks like a "Port-a-pottie,", or an old out house, But it has a smoke stack (with smoke coming out of it) and a steel door, with electric controls. The one I see a lot is at a house on "States Landing's Road," in Moultonboro, and one at a house right off Rte 25. It doesn't appear to be connected to any building, and it has a sign thats reads "Capitol" on it. Does anyone know what these boxes are? I'm stumped!

Wow...I like those Central Boiler units. A friend down here converted his home from oil heat w/steam radiators to a wood-fired boiler using the same radiators. And he gets all his wood for free. Nice option when the price of heating oil is so high. Of course, you'd use a lot more wood in the Lakes Region than down here, where it's supposed to be 74 degrees on Saturday! (Can you say, "Let's go diving!"???)

Hi Yacker!
Thank You, that's exactly what it is I keep seeing. It sounds like a good thing, if you don't mind the look!

I like the idea, but how practicle is it?

My Aunt's husband had a wood system in their home. It was in the basement so no one was walking out into the snow to reload it every day.

The system outlined above...I don't know that walking through snow drifts with a load of wood in my arms would be something I'd want to do more than once or twice!

You know, I have seen something like this at a house on Route 109, about 1/2 mile up on the right after you make the turn from Route 25. I have wondered for months what it was, it looks a little bit like a bob-house. Thanks for the info. I was ready to go knock on the front door and ask the owner what was going on with his bob house!
