WOW.... Did the wind blow down here in MA last night! We had trees down all over the place. Power out accross the area. We had many roads closed for trees blocking the road and laying on power lines.
Did the cold front hit the lake area very hard as it did here?

Same up here, even some lightning last night. Temp right now is 40 and supposed to barely make 50 today. We've got some people coming up from FL this morning. Guess they'll be in for a surprise (New England Style) :D
I'll be nice and leave the canvas up when we take them out for a boat ride.

It's been blowin' like crazy! I even found one of my mums blown right out of it's pot! There's lawn chairs and kids toys blown all over my yard, what a mess. I'm surprised we didn't lose power, we usually do.

It would seem that Rattlesnake Island has experienced an outage, as well as, Bear and Pine Islands. Black Cat cam is still up and running, though...

We lost power for 15 hours on Long Island, just restored. Also, the phone was out for 6 hours. At least the new generator kicked in.

A bright yellow towing boat is presently towing a half-submerged 20', white decked, blue and white bowrider with beige flotation bags front and rear. It is possibly heading towards a boat ramp near Tuftonboro.
Looks like it got away from where-ever it started out and "stopped floating".
Yes, I'd say it's windy!

Oops! I didn't proof read and didn't realize that I omitted a word. I learned something new, that indeed we have a cam on the southerly end of Black Cat. Thanks for pointing it out.

My wife, son and I went to Barrington to see this movie last night. However 10 min prior to the end of the film just as a cannon was shot, a big boom happened and the electricity in the theater and surrounding area was gone.
Oh well, my suggestion to anybody, if you can go see this movie.
As for the wind, this was close up day for me. Will miss the lake for boating for the next few months. Hey when is Ice OUt:emb:

I am guessing around the 20th of April for ice-out.
The change of seasons is great here in New England. That said, the fall is great until the leaves have gone and the wind starts to blow. Now we have the first snow to look forward to, then the ice, then a few big snow storms. Before you know it, the excitement of ice-out will be upon us and we will all be getting the boats wet again. The circle of mother nature is great!
I would not trade this life in New England for anything.
Stay warm and enjoy!

It must have been amazingly windy on Friday into Saturday. Ship Island’s flagpole (http://www.winnipesaukee.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=10386&nocache=1) was blown over pretty badly.
Unfortunately we forgot to check if the island had power before heading up yesterday.
I wonder if DRH has a wind speed for Alton?

John:
You should have gone to the Movie at O'Neils Theatres in Lisbon like I did. Flags of Our Fathers was a great movie, I really enjoyed it. O'Neils has stadium seating and plush seats to help you enjoy the movie.

I wonder if DRH has a wind speed for Alton? We recorded wind gusts up to 45 mph several times Friday night, but I think that may actually be on the low side because we have some big pine trees around the house that tend to block the wind to some degree. But I can tell you that the wind howled so loudly on Friday night that we actually had trouble sleeping. The lake was very rough all day Saturday, too. It was much calmer today.

Actually, I think Black Cat Cam was down for a while too. You may not have noticed because the last good picture stays up until it gets refreshed by the next. If the source camera goes down it doesn't refresh the picture on the web site, which is not local to Black Cat. The power could be down for days on end and you might never even know it by looking at the web cam site.
