Hope to get some good advice here. I have a stump I need to have gorunded down and a whole mess of branches that need to be chipped. Does any one know of a good person / company to contact for this? Also is there a rental company in the area that rents a chipper?

If its within 150 ft of the water you can't grind it down in Moultonboro, new law. Pretty soon chipping branches will be against the law too, because everyone knows that once you cut down a tree, another one never grows in its place at least according to the tree huggers.

Another case of not enforcing the laws you have then reacting with ridiculous laws that make the simple act of maintaining a property a bureaucratic nightmare.

Sorry about the rant, my advice is just do it and don't worry about it, I rented a chipper before from the lumber yard in Meredith **Wickes***, behind the train station, they may rent a stump grinder also.

Its amazing how much stuff you can't do on your own property. I wonder if the town would be responsible if you tripped over the stump they wouldn't let you grind?

Anywho, you can also rent the grinder from Taylor Rental on RT3 in Belmont, depending on what exit off I93 you use.

Do yourself a favor, don't rent a grinder. Hire a tree person to do it. You will save time and money for damages to the machine in the long haul.

I agree with this. I rented a stump grinder to do some myself. I returned it after about an hour. It would have taken a month to do what a pro did in less than 4 hours. For $250, it was well worth it (over 20 stumps).

I am sorry, but I have no clue who did it. They were out of the Tilton area though, not sure who it was. I went to work one day and there were stumps in the yard. By the time I got home they were gone. Wife arranged and paid for everything. Should I be concerned?

Try looking in the yellow pages of your area. look for Tree care companies that employ or that are Certified Arborists with the International Society Of Arboriculture. The id term is ISA Certified. I think Bartlett has an outfit in the area of Wolfeboro and so may Davey Tree. Local guys can give you better more prompt response than a out of the area company who will add travel time to the job.
