Shouldn't they specify it as not for drinking?
Oh boy, what people will do to make a buck.:rolleye1:
I just hope it doesn't have those invasive milfoil spores in it!

Ships from Concord, NH. so they don't even live here apparently. Tell you guys what, for $1.99 I'll take a picture out my window of the lake and send it to you.
Now we can't blame the damn operator for letting to much water out and making the water level so low. People are actually bottleing it up and selling it........oh well, one way to get rid of duck itch.

Hopefully it is not being drawn from Braun Bay on a hot Saturday afternoon...

Bottling lake water makes me sad for not easily explained reasons. Too personal to sell? Too cheeky, from people who don't live 'round these parts? Callous? Hmm.

RamJet, thanks for posting this E-bay item. What a hoot!
McDude, thanks for posting the article. We just love our press.
How many of us will be looking around now for interesting items like this to sell? Personally, I think this auctioneer should have posted a photo of the bottle, not just any one will do. :)

I can remember a guy on eBay getting $250 for an old LL Bean flannel shirt. His claims were that he never failed to **** when he was wearing his "Lucky Flannel Shirt" but he was getting married and the future wife ordered him to dispose of the shirt. He wanted to pass his good fortune on to another person so he was selling it....as opposed to donating it to Good Will. Have also seen stuff like a potato chip shaped like Lincoln's silouette, a sandwich scrap off the plate of a movie star at a restaurant, someone was even selling pieces of the Old Man in the Mountain when it fell a few years ago. I think the next time I go out on the lake I'll take a couple of gallon jugs, a shovel and a sand pail. Not to mention what I could find snorkling at the Witches. WOW!! I may be able to afford a new boat in the spring. Watch for my upcoming ads on eBay!!! hahaha!

I'm so glad I saw this posting, it reminds me of the need to change the air in my tires. Each Fall I remove the Summer air and its extra humidity and replace it with Fall air which is less humid. One year I forgot to do this and the clink-clink-clink of the frozen bits of humidity rattling around in the tires drove me nuts all Winter long. Once again, thanks for reminding me.

Okay, I'm a geek.
While in college, I had a glass bottle filled with Lake water in my room. It kinda filled a void that all these web cams do now.

I am continually amazed by ebay. I do use ebay quite a bit and am in the process of liquidating some coins from my late father.
A few years back I put my old running shoes on ebay. I did not think that they would do much, but the alternative was to toss them. They sold for $80 and the buyer sent me a personal thank you note. One man's trash is truly another's treasure.:D

Just curious, did the water grow anything? If I fill my dog's bowl in the morning, by evening there is a coating of slime in it.

My boat ("Bear") actually keeps "her" own sample of Winni Water at all times -- in the bilge! Guess "she" doesn't need to bid on e-bay........... :D

Has anyone seen my lucky flannel shirt that I paid $250 for?:D :D
I sold a bunch of my old toys (circa 1950s and 60s) including a 1958 Barbie doll that were stored in my folks attic. I made over 2K.
I wonder how much someone would pay for a bottle of Duck Itch? :emb:

An eBayer named jp75023 was the auction winner and paid $7.50 for something in a bottle.

Not all of us are able to be at the lake as often as we would like. Living in Texas it's hard to get to the lake every weekend. Yes I purchased the bottled lake water as a Christmas gift to my 9 year old nephew who lives in Fort Worth Texas and loves the lake. He has one corner of his room devoted to memorabilia of the lake and I knew this would be one of his most favorite presents. Hope this doesn't sound too harsh, however, everyone has their reason for purchasing items.

Janet - sounds like a great purchase, which will become a treasured gift! Good for you! :D I'm sure your nephew will absolutely squeal with delight when he opens your gift this Christmas! ;)
Sounds OK to me.
As a Christmas present, however, it needs to go to the freezer on Christmas Eve!

I see a few red faces on the forum today. What's wrong with a souvenier from the big lake?I bet some members might have dirt from a certain field in Foxboro!

The person who did this is second on my list of entrepreneurial heros only to the guy who came up with the Pet Rock!
I wish I had thought of it first!
Not to rain on this parade...but..How do you know it has come from Lake Winnipesaukee and not a faucet or other local source of water:confused: ??

Thanks Pepper and Rattlesnake Gal for your kind words. I know my nephew will be excited when he opens his present. He won't know if it really came from the lake or a faucet - he'll think it's lake water and will be thrilled.
Janet,
faith will do in this case. It sounds like your nephew will treasure this gift.

Having once lived in Concord where the seller was shipping from, theres not a whole lot of diffrence between water from the lake and water from Concords taps!
