We live on Gunstock Brook.... it dosen't surprise me that there may be a problem. All the rain had the brook 12-15' over it's bank at least 3 times this spring and early summer... my neighbors backyard and basement has flooded 3 times.. when all that water retreats to the brook.. I'll bet lot's of "bad stuff" got into the brook.

All of the three properties on my side of the brook have stable septic... my bet would be on fertilizer. The brook also flooded out "Bean's and Green's" farm several time.. wiping out several early corn and veggie crops. (Those poor guys have had a very tough year)

Today.. the brook "looks great".. nice and clear and back to it's normal waterline.

They should have mentioned the high concentration of Jägermeister in Paugus Bay. I think that improves the water quality:liplick:

Something for SteveA to consider... The study was based on 2004 - 2005 water samples and data so this years flooding and everything it might have washed in didn't even factor into the results. It will be interesting to to see what happens in the future after they've filled the 17 acres of wetlands to expand the airport and everything just flows straight to the lake instead of soaking into those fields.

I didn't consider the dates.... (Thanks for fixing my error)

We've lived on the river for 20 years... this year has seen the most "high water" and the river has been over the bank more this year than we have ever seen.
