Question for other Condo Associations??

I have a question of other Condo association members on the lake.
For the first time my condo association will allow PWC docking at our docks.
We are required to have them on free standing Jet Ski stands that will be placed in an out of the way area, (too shallow for boats & away from beach)
The association will be charging $350.00 for each PWC space.
What do other associations change for this type of docking? I feel that $350.00 is too high.

price may not be your only problem... You are required to get a permit from the NH DES Wetlands Bureau to install a pwc lift and one of the permitting requirements is that they must be placed immediatley adjacent to the existing docking facility. It sounds like what the association wants you to do is illegal.

PWC lifts do not have to be next to a dock. There is a limitation to the number of lifts per shoreline length. I do not know how it works with associations vs. private lots.

Is a lift and a stand the same thing. I thought if the the PWC was on a stand and rolled out of the water. It did not need a permit. Esssentially it is a mini human powered trailer and trailers don't need DES permits.

We went through all this at Southdown Shores over the past couple of years. We currently have mooring positions for PWC that are approved by the state. The moorings had to be free standing...attachment to a dock was a slip and that was a completely different approval process. Both the slips or the moorings will have to be approved and that process is lengthy. If you do not have approvals for this, you are illegal. I would ask about this prior to putting a PWC in the water. For us to get approval it took the following:

1. Approval of the city/town
2. Approval of safety and conservation
3. Approval of the governor's council

This required engineering drawings, proposals, applications and presentations. It took on the order of 2 years to complete the process. :cool:

If it is one of those wheeled things that drags the PWC completely out of the water there are no permits needed. I was told by MP when I stay at a friends cottage on the lake that if I drag my ski up onto land so that no part of it touches the water it is safe and not under MP jurisdiction.
