There used to be a place near the Weirs called "King's Grant" kind of up near Surf Coaster that had a great night life. I know it changed at least once since I was first their about seven years ago.
Does anyone know if it's still there?
If not, what are the best "night life" spots? I was wondering if there are any good ones around. It seems like the bars around Weirs Beach have either gone down hill or closed over the past few years.

Not having much time, energy, or desire for much nightlife at this stage in my life, I can't render much in the way of personal experience as a patron, but I can offer a bit of information regarding various venues around this side of the lake. I'll start in the Weirs area, and work my way out toward downtown.
You should note that many of these nightclubs are seasonal, as the year-round population can't support a large number of clubs. Another thing to take into consideration is that none of the clubs here will afford you that "urban nightclub" experience - again because the population cannot support such an enterprise.
Paradise Beach Club - Open May through October.
Beach themed decor, offers live entertainment weekends with a variety of bands and a focus on dance music. (On a side note, their Prime Rib dinner is SUPERB!!!) ;)
Weirs Beach Smokehouse - Open May through October. Offers live entertainment with a focus on rock music.
Club OG's - Open year-round. Features "hot dance music" with a DJ and lots of electronic light show equipment.
King's Grant - Open year-round. Features Exotic Dancers - not sure what else.
Patrick's Pub - Open year-round. Offers a variety of entertainment from Comedy to live music.
Jeremiah's - Open year-round. Not sure if entertainment is live or DJ. Offer's Karaoke on certain nights as well.
Funky Monkey - Open year-round. Features 12 pool tables and DJ dance music.
Club Atlantis - Open year-round. Offers DJ dance music.
I'm not sure if I got them all, but perhaps others will be able to complete the list, and offer more information about those I've remembered to list.

King's Grant - Open year-round. Features Exotic Dancers - not sure what else. Are you saying King's Grant is now a strip joint? It was a huge nightclub with two floors (the upper looking down to the lower) last time I was there (seven years ago).
I've either heard or been to most of the other places but I was just wondering if I had missed any.
I'm recently single, going up for the weekend over Memorial Day, and can only stand my family for so long (lol), so I thought I'd take a cruise around and try to find a good spot.
I know there won't be any bars with an "urban" feel to them and that's fine. Even a cool pub with live music would suit me.
Thanks again!

JK...
Kings Grant is now a strip club... they have what they call "exotic dancers" LOL! There was a big fight between the club and the town and the courts sided with the club...

NH liquor rules were always pretty strict. That's what stops a lot of true nightclubs. I think it's still true that you can't get a liquor license for just a bar in NH. You can open a restaurant, with an attached bar or pub, but you have to serve food.
I also thought you couldn't get a liquor license if you had exotic dancing. That's why you don't see a ton of clubs like that around. There maybe some gray areas regarding exotic dancing versus nudity. Or maybe Kings Grant doesn't serve booze.

The Grant serves booze.... the girls aren't really nude... LOL! G-strings and pasties!
All bars in NH have to serve food as a requirement of their liquor license. I do think you can an exemption if you are classified as a "Function Hall". That designation is determined by capacity... over 300 people I think.

Well I'm always intrigued by the possibility of doing some "research". (Au) Naturelly only to verify the veracity of the statements made by Woodsy and to broaden my life experiences of course. Perhaps sometime when "Mee" is off to a craft fair I should investigate and report back to the forum ... or maybe not ;)
ps - so when they say "bottoms up" at the KG are they referring to the drinks or ... :coolsm:

Theres something about exotic dancers at the Grant that just seems wrong. Oh, and the wrong part would be that I haven't been with Weirs Girl!
