We are new to the Lakes Region (Moultonboro), and can’t wait to get our boat in the water this summer. I know extremely few in the area, but I am giving thoughts to forming a new Red Hat Chapter of boaters in the +/-50ish age range. Any interest? Contact me

As in purple dresses? Or t-shirts?
No.......I don't think we're ready for this yet.
I know I am new here, but I just don't see this as a happenin' thing here at the lake.
It's definitely a retirement thing......but no.....just my opinion.

We are in the right age range and the right area, but could you expand a little on what you mean.

Maybe you could join this group for a voyage on the Mount this year...

GWC's picture reminded me that we have seen such gatherings in the past. Here are 2 pictures that might be of some use.

Welcome to the lake and the forum Rag Top Daze! You're going to love it here.
Have you checked out the Lakes Region Newcomers Club (http://www.lakesregionnewcomers.com/)?
Are pink hat ladies welcome too? ;) (A subsidiary of Red Hat Society (http://www.redhatsociety.com/) for under the age of 50)
When I am an old woman
By Jenny Joseph
When I Am An Old Woman
I shall wear purple
With a red hat which doesn't go, and doesn't suit me
And I shall spend my pension on brandy and summer gloves
And satin sandals, and say we've no money for butter.
I shall sit down on the pavement when I'm tired
And gobble up samples in ships and press alarm bells
And run my stick along the public railings
And make up for the sobriety of my youth.
I shall go out in my slippers in the rain
And pick the flowers in other people's gardens
And learn to spit.
You can wear terrible shirts and grow more fat
And eat three pounds of sausages at a go
Or only bread and a pickle for a week
And hoard pens and pencils and beermats and things in boxes.
But now we must have clothes that keep us dry
And pay our rent and not swear in the street
And set a good example for the children.
We will have friends to dinner and read the papers.
But maybe I ought to practice a little now?
So people who know me are not too shocked and surprised
When suddenly I am old and start to wear purple.

Thanks so much for the comments. It would appear, tho, that there are a few misconceptions about the Red Hat Society. It's NOT just for the elderly retired group. Don't get me wrong, they are having a grand time of it! I for one don't consider my age of 53 to be OLD. I am not looking for anyone who wants to do OLD things. I am thinking about maybe a once a month gathering of like minded gals who want to do something with "their own kind". Possibly a sunset picnic from a few boats; dinner at a place that can be reached by boat; hiking around a not too populated island with lots of chatter. As far as the purple goes, it's and outfit of purple. Whatever the activity demands...t-shirt. bathing suit, sweatshirt...it all depends on the purpose of the gathering. As for the hats, there are gatherings that will be screaming for a wide-brimmed-trimmed-to-the-hilt hat; some that will need a baseball cap; and some that I might ask Skipper of the Sea Que if I can borrow his cute little hat...I promise I will get all the purple feathers off before I return it to you ;)
Thanks for the Welcome, Rattlesnake Gal. I haven't yet, but I will check out the Newcomers. In answer to your question YES! Pink Hatters would be encouraged if we can get a group together. I am still a member, altho it's a long drive, of a Red Hat group in Auburn, just outside of Manchester. We have no one over 60 in the group of 15. The membership is divided almost equally between Red and Pink Hats. The youngest is 38. I really would like to get something going with a group close to my new home.
So, I don't know the proper protocal here...if there is any interest, should I tell people to contact me privately, or do we continue to do it here? I dont want to be breaking any rules. Can you help me out?
I do want to say that I have been watching the forum for a little while before jumping in here. You all sound like really nice people. Even if I don't get a group together, I will still be watching the forum. There is no question that we are going to love the area...we already do! :D

:banana:The Wolfeboro (http://www.redhatsociety.com/searchList.lasso?chapterCity=Wolfeboro&chapterState=New%20Hampshire&chapterCountry=United%20States) chapters are open to new members.
The other area towns are not.
The Red Hat Society (http://www.redhatsociety.com) wants you to start your own chapter! http://www.redhatsociety.com/images/ruby2.gif
Good luck and most of all have fun!

Well it appears that Webmaster D corrected my post and now I see what I was doing wrong. The URL to the picture itself is not what I was copying, I was copying the URL to the Photopost page that showed the picture. Not quite the same thing. Now we have duplicate posts ... :D Now I'll try to fix the other photo link and we'll see what happens there.
