Sometimes!….I took an uber from Meredith docks to the Texas Smokeshop once but couldn’t get back! Had to call Mr C’s taxi to come get me. It’s hit or miss with uber.

Thank you. I looked on their app and saw no availability.
The Lakes Region needs Waymo. They're completely driverless cars that operate in a few cities including San Francisco. I see them go by very frequently with no one in them, or someone in the back seat...Never someone in the driver's seat. It's incredible watching them maneuver around. They even sense speed-bumps and will slow down. They're driverless taxis.

Whether its Uber, Lyft or Waymo, there isn't enough business yet for drivers or vehicles to just sit around waiting for a fare. I get OK service in Manchester, Concord and Nashua, but in Merrimack a driver has to come from Manchester and it isn't unusual for a driver to cancel if s/he finds a different fare closer. Laconia Taxi was available once to take me from Gilford to Manchester. Nicxe driver, prompt service. I like "Go Go Grandparent" that connects with both Uber and Lyft to find a driver, but still erratic service in Gilford.

Believe during the tourist season there would be more than enough work for a few drivers.

That's funny. Time for a reboot.
When something goes wrong with one, it makes news. When humans err, it's too common to report.
The Waymo cars are also great targets for the anarchists.

Uber and Lyft work best in a city environment (numbers of population). Not so in a rural environment (not enough money to be made).
I wish it did exist but it is what it is.

During COVID when Concord Coach Lines closed for a period, I would take a very affordable limo from Logan to Meredith and then Meredith to Logan.
Dave would pick me up at 4:30 am if needed. He told me he was so busy during summer months, that he hired several drivers. Then he and some of his drivers got COVID and he folded his operation.
Very difficult for taxis to survive in a rural environment. To drive 14 miles to transport someone 5 miles doesn't make financial sense.

Rates are variable. Charge what is required to make a profit. Don’t understand the logic

Hmmmm.
I'm imagining driverless water taxis navigating bonehead-boating-behavior.
The future is waiting.
