I have question regarding 'Transponders'....
I will be traveling soon from State to State, in 2 vehicles, however, I have only 1 Transponder.
Some States like Mass. have No Toll booths, only Transponder detectors to pickup a Transponder signal from the vehicle. On that note, if I drive through Tolls w/o a Transponder, how does State charge for that vehicle ?
TIA

Photo taken of your rear license plate then they will track you down. An extra processing charge will be added. Some states have signs after the toll with a number to call.

In NH, and thus perhaps also in other states, if you go on the state's website, you can look up what they have down for you and pay within seven days to avoid the extra processing charge. In other states, you may find that the state's website says you may have to wait seven days or more for the charges to appear.

Your best bet is to obtain a second transponder for the second vehicle as it will save you a lot of aggravation.
Many states provide a transponder for little or nothing so there really is no reason not to obtain one. I know Florida has a cheap SunPass version which is good up and down the east coast. You fund it and they deduct from your remaining credit balance everytime you trigger a toll.
Of course another alternative is to carefully plan your trip so you are able do toll avoidance (i.e. different way to get from point A to point B, but that sometimes can be a PIA).
Enjoy your trip and best of luck!
