$400 dishwasher .... ?

Looking to replace the old dishwasher? Well, Lowe's has a Whirlpool 24" standard under-counter dishwasher that usually goes for about $569 reduced to $399 in white, sale price good thru May 15 which is just two days from now.

My dishwasher is a JennAir that I bought for $50 from the ReStore in Plymouth about five years ago which still works perfectly to this day plus is very quiet as well.

Decisions, decisions ...... what should I do? ...... stick with the old reliable $50 JennAir or upgrade to a new $399 Whirlpool, both with a white front ..... this is an unbelievable difficult decision, here? ..... oh, forum readers ...... what should I do? ....... :banana:

I had never ever heard of a JennAir dishwasher and just got lucky with it at the ReStore in Plymouth, or something?

All things considered, the breakdown of different ratings on the sale priced $399-Whirlpool at Lowe's sounds very good except for maybe the noise level, and I can always just wear sound deadening air-muffs if really needed? Usually, I run the dishwasher when I am not there.

Recently replaced an old leaky Moen kitchen faucet with a $28-mark down kitchen faucet from Walmart that is a welcome new addition, so I was thinking that now is maybe a good time to replace the old dishwasher as well. It has a serious crack in the plastic near the latch but is still functioning good despite the crack so's I think I'll go ahead with a new $399-Whirlpool from Lowe's in Gilford.

Not too many dishwashers come in white, anymore. Almost all dishwashers are now in stainless steel finish for some wack-a-doozie unknown reason?

I had two. Both had the control panels replaced after the warranty expired. The Maytag repair guy estimates were about $250 to repair the panels. There is an eBay reseller that sells the panels for around $50. Watch a YouTube instructional video to replace it. Save $200.
I now have a Fisher & Paykel. The best dishwasher I ever had!

gillygirl is 100% right! I never run the dishwasher or clothes washer when I am not there. Ask yourself: what could possibly go wrong? 🙄

The drying element could cause a fire. If you run it with the drying cycle off, you’re safer. But running water while you’re not at home is also a questionable practice. And I’m super paranoid about water lines to the fridge. Saw firsthand the damage a slow leak can do when two stacked residences are vacant for a few months.

I remember the dishwashers with the reversable front panels. Back then it was black or white, only rich folks had stainless steel. :laugh:
