Fishing Paugus Bay?

I lived in Melvin Village for 20+ years so I know that area of the lake quite well. Fished between Moultonboro Bay to Five & Six mile islands extensively.

I have a chance to buy a boat that's stored in Paugus Bay and was wondering about fishing there instead of running out to the main lake.

How's the non-weekend boat traffic? Salmon, trout, white and yellow perch?

Not looking for any specific areas of the bay, mainly what's there.

If your boat will fit through the large culvert tunnel opening underneath the railroad track, then Pickerel Cove, up the north end of Paugus Bay is the #1 most Milfoil infected spot on the big lake and is the place-to-go for fishing the really big chain pickerel.

Yikes, I as a owner in Pickerel Cove and matter factly the property they launch to treat the cove, the number one spot for Milfoil IS NOT Pickerel Cove, be clear the State tested the cove last year and there was NO milfoil.
There are tentative dates (2023) set to treat the cove but that does not mean there is any. Would appreciate some actual knowledge check before making a statement that you can't substantiate. As for fish, we've seen some pretty big Bass, Pickerel, and looks like possible Breeding Salmon early season.

Go to google-map for Paugus Bay, Laconia and reduce down to Pickerel Cove in the upper left hand area of Paugus Bay and take a look-see. The Milfoil as seen via the Google satellite from outer space is so thick and dense that it occupies a good 50% of the Pickerel Cover water surface.

Suggest you take a look ..... seeing it ..... is believing it. Pickerel Cove should be renamed 'Milfoil Cove.' ..... :eek:
