Well, it was only a matter of time before this wonderful website received the recognition it so well deserves: http://www.citizen.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060125/CITIZEN0101/101250063/-1/CITIZEN

Who knew all that dancing and posting would result in media attention! Great article - even better when you know all the "charactors", er, :rolleye2: uh, "characters". :D

Just got done reading this morning's article in the Citizen. I think this was great publicity for the website and like Pepper I got a kick out of reading about some of my fellow forum members. Maybe now more of the locals will tap into this resource as well. Who better to answer questions on the area than those that are right there such as DRH and Pepper to just name 2. Keep up the great work, Don!:)

Congratulations, Don! It's good to see you receive public recognition for the great job you do, which your winnipesaukee.com friends "recognize" every day.

It was a very nice article and I thank Geoff and the Citizen for all the extra traffic today.:) Geoff contacted me yesterday and we had a long conversation about the site and forum. It was interesting to learn more about the Citizen and I probably told him more about winnipesaukee.com than he would want to know for 3 articles.

There were a few minor things I wanted to correct. The daily site visitors is around 3000 this time of year, not "tens of thousands". I mentioned to Geoff that we have had 10,000 to 20,000 visitors a day during peak times like Ice-Out week but the normal daily traffic is not that high.

The article also said that some members in the speed limit discussions were blocked because of "profanity". Although I had some concerns with the speed limits debates, profanity was never a problem (thank you!).

I also have to thank Geoff for including the URLs to this site and Island Girl's. I told him that many past newspaper articles mentioned the forum but didn't say where to find it. It's good to see the URLs in his article.

One last mistake was my age. It was printed backwards. I'm actually 25 :rolleye1:.

Curt who????

Curt Schilling, Red Sox pitcher, bought Drew Bledsoe's house/estate in Medfield for a super-bargain price after Drew was traded from the Patriots to Buffalo.

.... thank Pepper for posting the Citizen article as I am in Texas on buisness and would have missed it. I called a friend in Gilford and he said that he would pick me up some copies.

Thanks again Pepper.

It's nice to see a link to the website from a Citizen article, because so many posters have linked comments to a Citizen article. I'm sure the Citizen, without knowing it, gets a lot of hits from people reading articles on this site. And I echo the comments above for the recognition of our Webmaster, who has had this website for 10 years, quite a feat for a 15 year old with a vision :D . congrats, don

Thank You, Don. We all know how great this site is and it just keeps getting better.

Now the world will know about our lake......there will be millions of visitors daily (to the website). All this talk about lack of ice has a downside, though.

Boating in February and March....gives new meaning to the word "Brrrrrrr" and the poor lobsters will have to get "busy" over there on the coast. Pepper will have to open real early in the 2006 season and the throngs will be lined up for lobster rolls.

On the other hand the islanders will be able to open their camps early and Mrs. Hermit Cover and I will be able to begin construction of the dream house sooner.

Thanks again, Don for all you do....we all are very proud of you and our fantastic website.

For those of you who have only seen the online version of this article, in the print version of today's "The Citizen" it's the front page feature story!

Good to see Don and Winni.com getting some deserved recognition. Geesh, if the Citizen thought Ice-in was the "hot" topic, I wonder what they would have to say about the nude sunbathing thread. :D

Shhh!!! We don't want the world to find out, via The Citizen, about the Nude Beach!!!

Congratulations to our fearless leader, Don Z. , for getting the recognition he deserves for creating this fascinating and fun place to gather! You've brought together some of the best people in the area!:coolsm:

Three cheers for Don!

Cool article...and the topic was the main reason I toggled over here this morning. Still planning to do the derby weekend, although I don't know where/if we'll get on the ice.

Waiting for that dive season to commence...

Congratulation Don for having the best web site in the Universe. We are so lucky!

As for the new science of determing age, unfortunately, I can't invert my numbers, so I can safely say that I am 25 with 30 years of experience.

And thank you Don for not letting the world know about our 'Hedonistic' lifestyle! (AKA Nude boating).

Skol!

I see that the story about ice-in and the winni website have now been published in the Union Leader. Can WMUR TV be far behind? Maybe NH Chronicles will do a story?

That's ok. Don's math will catch up with him soon enough. Next birthday he'll age really fast.

But then again, what would I know. I'm only 5! In a few weeks I'll be 15. Then I'll be REALLY annoying! :emb:

Congratulations Don. You will never know how many viewers you have reached. This is a great service, not only for those lucky enough to live in "God's Country" but also those of us that cannot be there as much as we would like. The site provides a great deal of information and enjoyable messages, and photos, Thanks again.

No, I'm not talking about steak, lol! Many many kudos to Don, and also to my fellow posters here! If it weren't for Don, I wouldn't have met so many more great "Lakers" than I already had (in person)!

Here's to you, Don, and to all of the posters here!
