37.5 @ 12:40pm with 1.32" of rain over the past 24 hours. The snowpack seems to have come through better than expected-- looks like 6-8 inches still out there.
Yeah, that was really something! We saw a number of brilliant lightning bolts just to our north about an hour ago, with booming thunder. The electrical storm has now moved away, and the temperature is starting to fall as it continues to rain.
According to Matt Noyes at NECN, we could get several inches of snow later this afternoon and evening as the temp. continues to fall. It's now 35 degs, down from 37 an hour ago.

Interesting weather pattern up here in the Gunstock area!
We were skiing on Saturday and conditions were delightful -- no ice, but worked the legs in the soft snow. Cloudy Christmas Day until about 5 pm and started to drizzle. Intermittent rain overnight and earlier this morning...then heavy rain. And then late mornning-- WHAM! Bright lightning and thunder. The storm lasted about 30 minutes total here in Gilford where we are. We were going to ski today, but after waking up to heavy rains, decided against it.
Hope everyone skiing today at Gunstock are safe.
Our love and best wishes to all Forum members this holiday season!!!

Tuesday 27th.....It's a winter wonderland! The dusting of snow has stuck to the trees. It's about 20 degrees today with a strong wind.

Kind of OT but McDude would you happen to know wahat the big swamp out behind is is called? It is on the Boy Scout land just on the other side of our property line. Or for that matter, what the stream is that has the camp on the other side?

Karen and Cuddles:
I'm still not sure exactly where you are located but I've 'consulted' a few maps and these 'wilderness' areas do not seem to have a name yet so go for it! How about Lilac Hill Swamp or Cuddles Stream?
Here's a link to the actual map of the Boy Scout Camp Hiking Map with the boundary of their land highlighted in yellow. They don't label the swamp or stream. (Neither does the latest topographical map)

OK we're the house if you're headed to the IW market on the right that put up the fence last fall. We have 100 ft of Hidden Valley right away to the north and a lot of hidden valley to the south. The map doesn't show our part of Avery Hill at all. We're about 1000 feet before the line.
It had to be named because there is an old mill on the boy scout part of the stream. Parts of a turbine are still there. It was the old Irwin place, basically a cellar hole and dug well.

I just checked my Maptech Terrain Navigator software, and find no name for the swamp/marsh. Perhaps contacting the Boy Scouts may yield something???

No it didn't. We went over there to get permission to remove downed trees due to storms and beavers that are causing a log jam on the stream thus flooding our property. They weren't too enthusiastic and wouldn't let us. The four trees we wanted to remove are no where near the beaver lodge or the swamp they can flood down there all they want. They are in fact trees the rodents decided they didn't want and were only half chewed. The storms downed them 2 springs ago.
They did have the 197something survey done by the Boy Scouts in our file at the town hall. The surveyor for kicks traced the title back. I need to go down and get a copy. Mr. Morse says that the building out back was a school or something before he was born. I know in the deed there was a clause for an elderly relative of one of the owners to live there for the rest of his days. I had to get a 1954 death certificate to show he really isn't there anymore before we could close on the property.
