DRH - any chance you're recording the speed of those incredible wind gusts today?

Just had one that blew so much sleet against the house it sounded like buckshot!

The Varney Point Cam page (linked from the Rattlesnake Cam page http://www.rattlesnakecam.com/watch3.htm) shows wind gust speeds, but I don't know how long a sampling period is reflected there.

There's also a link (from Varney Point Cam page) which shows gusts over a longer period and actual peaks:

Orion - THANKS! I just added that link to my favorites! It would appear by the info provided that those gusts between 11 and Noon were somewhere around 33 or 34 mph. The wind is greatly reduced now, thank heavens, but the snow is falling much heavier!

Thanks again for those links! ;)

Are you doing the snow dance again?

We haven't gotten the wind gusts here, interestingly enough. I don't think the wind has exceeded about 10 - 12 mph here today. Strange.

So far we've gotten about 8" of snow here today. According to the NECN weather forecast we just watched it's turned to rain in Concord, but the temp. here is still 23 degs so it's still all snow.

GTXrider - I must need lessons, because apparently I did the dance all wrong! We got some sleet and some rain and THEN we got about 9 inches of snow with ferocious wind, then added sleet again, then rain. I'm gonna quit dancing till I get some lessons!

DRH - must be that huge MOON is blocking the wind from you!

Its left together, right together, no I think you put you left foot in you put your left foot out......than you shake it all about.

We just got ice and it washed all the nice snow away. It is a bit breezy here but in the 40s. It looks like a brown Christmas.

Watch the cracks about DRH's MOON

I also run a weather station. I hadn't splurged on anything recently so I went with the fancy solar powered fan aspirated wireless model from Davis. It's more primed to record high gusts from NW winds. Need some good January fronts to rush in some bitter cold air on 40+ mph gusts.

The page is a work in progress. I like to mess around with it. I also track snowfall there.

Hi Scott! We haven't seen you here in a long time, and it's nice to have you visit with us again! :D

I'm looking forward to seeing the weather page develop! Hope you and family are all well.

Scott,

When I am not up at the Weirs, I visit your weather site at least twice a day. It is very informative and keeps me in touch with what is going on at our place on the lake.

Great job and thanks!
