Where's your favorite place for pizza? For me it's JJ's Woodfired Pizza in Franklin, I'm a big sucker when it comes to woodfired pizza, I will drive the distance. A buddy of mine who lives in Hampton, swears up and down over the Pizza Barn in Ossipee and makes it a regular stop to or from, trips to N. Conway with his family. Although I love the barn and the atmosphere inside, their pizza isn't my favorite... they put to much on for toppings IMO and they are missing out by not having a woodfired oven.

Picking a favorite pizza is really hard but for wood fired I have always liked the place in North Conway, I think it's called flatbread company. Have not been there in ages though.

My personal preference is thin and it's hard to beat piccolo in center harbor

Jack's Pizza in Alton. Thin crust. Not overloaded with sauce.

We tend to get the large meat-lovers with the garlic and oil sauce.

It is inside the gas and grocery at the Alton Circle, and is a remote location of Jack's Pizza in Pittsfield.

It's not wood fired but in my humble opinion Piccolo's in Moultonborough is one of the best pizza places anywhere in lake country. They use the best ingredients. The real test of a good pie is if it is as good a day later on reheat and Piccolo's is delicious the second time around. Love this little market with their high quality Italian goods and excellent micro beer choices. Their handmade desserts are to die for.

The reheat test is key. The pizza has to taste good on the reheat and I'm not talking about microwave reheat, it's toaster oven or frying pan. A pizza made with junk ingredients will not reheat well.
Quick side note, Uno's used to make a sautéed mushroom & garlic flatbread pizza with a Vermont cheddar cheese, that was pretty damn good (I haven't been in a while so not sure if they still offer that). I'm not a super big fan of chain restaurants but will give credit where credit is due and that pizza was pretty damn good.

Absolutely agree and do not forget the Baccala and Calamari Salad… If I could only eat one thing this would be it.

Slightless off topic, but when I go camping I usually bring a pizza for the first night since it's good hot or cold but heated over a fire or a bbq grill is my favorite. Nice crispy bottom.

We decided to give it a try and it is pretty darn good. We got a plain cheese and a "Meatsa Pizza", (bacon, sausage, pepperoni, and hamburger, I believe), and they were both quite yummy.

Skelleys has a 2/$20 2 toppings special on Saturdays 5-8. They are pretty darn good.....convenient. This might sound strange to those of you who rave about Piccolo’s....we had one from there months ago, and it was just plain awful..... not tasty and very soggy. We threw most of it out.

The Pine Cone is open year round but I don't think seven days a week, you'd have to check. It`s a regular restaurant with a full menu and a separate bar area with a small attached convenience store that also has some lake area gift items. It`s a cool local`s spot. The food is okay and if I remember correctly, large portions. Also, they used to have "all you can eat" Tuesday buffet. Not sure if they're still doing that. Parking can be limited on crowded days.

Some interesting history there in 2000 when it was a motel called Pine View Lodge. A doctor from MA. murdered his wife, ran and ended up there where he was caught. This is the documentary about him. Mention of the lodge is around 8:05.

I have yet to get over to Tilton pizza, which everyone claims is the best in the lakes region.
I like Piccolo's and Elvio's but I have had good and bad pizza from Elvio's.

I use Goldbely all the time for Lou Malnati's Chicago Deep Dish, NYC Bagels from Esa Bagel, hot dogs from Papaya King and these awesome ice cream sandwiches my kids love from Coolhaus in California

Its a great place to try all types of food from all over the country that otherwise you could not get

Tried Anthony's New York thin pizza at the Clark Plaza a few weeks ago. Not wood fired but not bad either. I've heard it can be hit or miss though.

I had that same experience at Elvio's. After a half dozen great pizza's we got a lousy one, not cooked enough. That's why I prefer wood fired.

Pizza Barn is probably my favorite, Pine Cone is good too. Elvios is pretty good too although they always seem a little crazy and disorganized in there but, the pizza is good.

Sal's Pizza used to be great, I remember going to the original one in Salem, NH its gone now. Ever since they started franchising, their pizza has gone down hill.

Think...you can never go too heavy on the garlic. We've got the following matted and framed in our kitchen:

Tomatoes and oregano make it Italian
Wine and tarragon make it French
Sour cream makes it Russian
Lemon and cinnamon make it Greek
Soy sauce makes it Chinese
Garlic makes it good

My wife and I took the kids to Maine to walk the Marginal Way not long ago. On our way back, walking through town, we passed Roberto's, and the first memory we each had was the time they messed up and put whole cloves on our order of garlic bread. It was BRUTAL. So much so that 20+ years later, it's the first thought we have when passing by the restaurant.

Everything in moderation. Except for jetski research—that can be limitless!
