Can I legally rent out my boat slips which are both in the defined lake shore residential zone?My homes are in Laconia and Alton. I am concerned about
Zoning and also my neighbors.

Obviously, there are things that are OK at your own residence that can be overstepped and make it commercial. For example, you can rent your house on VRBO for a week, but you're supposed to collect room and meals tax. Not so for a long term lease. Each town's zoning may be a little different, so you probably should call Alton or Laconia. Are you in an HOA? They may have rules too, like number of cars parked, trailers, RV's, etc.

Thanls for your reply. Not in an HOA.

I know you absolutely cannot do this with a mooring. I've personally never heard of anything that prohibits this, but if I were you and seriously contemplating it I would be very discreet about it. Also - I'd be really really really careful about liability too. This may be a problem with a conventional homeowners policy.

I can't see where this would be a zoning problem. How is renting any different than allowing a family member or friend leave their boat tied up to your dock for the season, coming and going as they please? If it were me and I was not concerned about the liability aspect I'd consider it so long as the renters are discreet and respectful of the unique situation.
