Today was my last day in my boat this year... the latest in a season that I have been. It was a glorious day out there... the calmest water... few boats.. wonderful sunshine... I meandered over to The Weirs to have my picture taken by the WeirsCam... then back to my marina...

One does have to dress for this kind of boating.... jacket, hat, face mask, goggles, neck warmer... and iPod!

Goodbye boating... bring on the snowmobiles! The snow dance has begun.... and watching for the ice to form!

I agree with Island Girl. The weekend was superb for fall boating. I'm surprised at the number of boats on and between the islands. It was a little chilly in the morning but warm quickly before noon. I love the feeling of having the lake to myself! :D

With gas under $2.20, I may de-winterize my boat for one more trip. It will be on my local portion of the Merrimack though. Otherwise my last trip was August 30, before the price spike. It was a beautiful day at least!

Sunday was a great day for sure and I wish I had been able to get to the lake for another trip to the camp... unfortunately other obligations kept me from getting there. Our boat is not winterized yet... but I do not see too many days with the temperature above 50 in the forecast this week... just have to dress for it I guess ;)

I guess the next time IG is on the lake she will literaly be ON THE LAKE!

Looking at "SNAKE EYES" it seems a bit choppy today.

I guess by now both IG and Mrs. DRH are beginning their snowdance so the Babes on Sleds will be back in business and "on the Lake". The folks just ordered 2 pair of ice cleats to slip over their boots, so I guess they're also getting ready for their February trip when they can walk on water.

Join us, gh... in the snow dance... Mrs. DRH and I are indeed dancing. I think some of those ice cleats would be good for us all for the Alton Bay Winter Festival... we are hoping to show up on sleds this year.

Let the lake begin the freeze and the snow fall from the skies.. and the Babes on Sleds take to their winter activity of being kids again!!

As IG and Mrs DRH begin the snow dance :D and the lake changes to a ice rink....Shouldn't forum readers be rallying to collaborate on our entry for the bed race in the Alton Bay Festival this year....
Just a thought far more fun participating than just watching.:look:

Lucky you! I had to put the boat away back in late September and I miss being on the water. Next year I'm telling the kids that we're going to miss a soccer game or two!

I bought a pair of ice cleats in October at Job Lots in Ossipee. Great price but had to get a larger size. I am now ready for my Xmas north trip. Do your dance for Xmas.
Florida sun and calm water is the best right now but some of the destruction from Wilma is amazing. The clean up of trees etc is still going on. Thankful about everyone has their utilities back and the main roads are back to normal. I was luck with no real damage

It was my last weekend on the lake as well. Went down Paugus Bay as far as Lakeport. It was my first time through the channel or on Paugus Bay. Usually my mast is up and I can't fit under the bridge, but mast was down in preperation for trailering home. I was surprised at the current that was whipping through the Weirs channel! There were more boats on the lake than I thought there would be. Oh well, until next season.

We put the Mee'n'Mac away 2 weeks ago as of now and you late season boaters are just killing us :D  so stop it ! Now really I guess it's time to freeze up so just give me time to un-FFLrate my dock and all will be well ;) :D As to Alton bed races .... perhaps "we" should start a separate thread to discuss a "Winni.com" entry ?

...and I thought last weekend was my last boat ride. The Snake Eyes modem stopped working last week and I just had to make another trip north. My boat is out of the water so I hitched a ride out with friends. Snake Eyes is back in operation and I got to see this view again. It was very cold, but my usual get up kept me nice and warm. (that is ice on the rocks)

IG, you may hereby consider me your "surrogate snowdancer". I promise to dance in your honor at least once per day until such time as we have sufficient snowcover to allow me to take up your gracious offer to become a Babette on Sleds. ;) I will also be dancing for enough snowcover to allow me to go tramping with Upthesaukee and Mrs. Upthesaukee! :D

Pepper, we are happy to have you join in the dance :D ! The more the merrier... I will be putting the snowmobile trailer in its ready to roll location today so it won't get snowed in.

With all the boaters still on the lake, are the gas pumps still in operation?
On the Anchor Marine Cam, it looks like they are not open.
Where do boats gas up this late in the season?

It seems that I do this every year.

Pulled the old Misty out the day before Thanksgiving. Water temp was about 40, the air was 16 deg.F.

The wind was howling as I headed to Center Harbor to pull. The windshield froze with lake ice and it was either stick my head out the hatch or go on to electronics! She is now pulled drained and stored. Man was I bummed.

The next day, Thanksgiving, the Fam. and I were heading south for the holiday with my New York inlaws. Wow Weee, what fun?

Any way, while passing the Meredith town docks there it was, coming out of a blizzard. A genuine mid-sixties Century Coronado! She was burgundy and cruising past the docks on the plane doing figure eights and loop the loops bow wake splash'en in the snow with the top down! Awsome.

I did get the bow numbers but I ain't narc'en that guy out!

So while my family happily sat around and watched Bullwinkle float past Times Square I sat back and thought about that crazy runabout. Man you made my day.

Misty Blue.
