Well it's finally come to pass. "Mee" has beaten me, errr, dragged, errr, enticed me in taking the plunge. The ceremony and reception and barge excursion are all decided (to be held at the Wolfeboro Inn) but we don't know who to get for the other assorted needs. Now I'm supposed to have a list of what to ask for but it's temporarily hiding from me so I'm going to wing it and ask:

Who would people recommend for a DJ ?
Who would people recommend for a florist ?
Who would people recommend for a wedding cake ?
Who would people recommend for Justice of Peace ?
Who would people recommend for a photographer ?

I think that's the major items I was supposed to inquire about ...

Anyway if you know of some lakes region people who did your (or someone you know) "stuff" right, please recommend them here. Thx :coolsm:

You might want to check out Rich Champoux at Top 40 productions for a MC / DJ.
He does a lot of local weddings and is the "house" DJ for weddings and functions on the Mt. Washington.
Rick is a lot of fun and a very professional entertainer.
His number is 603-528-6355
Good Luck

I recommend A Good Time DJ out of Salem NH. (agoodtimedj.com). They travel anywhere. I worked there for 6+ years as a DJ and they are a very professional and fun group. I personally did 3 weddings at the Wolfboro Inn. Great people to work with there also.
A side note, one wedding I did there, 3/4 of the wedding party including the bride, all caught the flu that day, before the reception even started. Before the reception was over, 5-6 more people caught it and all were very ill. The staff at the Inn offered the couple to come back and stay free for a weekend.

Who would people recommend for a florist ? Ladd Hill Gardens

Happy Planning! :)

Congratulations you two! Many more happy years together! The neice got married here at the cottage down on the dock (which did not float away that day!) on Columbus Day week-end a few years back. Regretfully it was a rainy windy day but we had a nice time anyway. She used Ladd Hill Florists and had the reception at the Wolfeboro Inn. The Inn did a nice job and a good time was had by all!

I attended a Catholic wedding at the Lady of the Lakes church in Lakeport. Really nice. Because the wedding was in the fall and the couple were Belknap County residents, they had the reception at the Gunstock Lodge. In the old building. It was truly phenominal! :D

How interesting. You said, "YES" and now you have a whole list of chores to deal with. I wonder if that is a hint of things to come  .

I recall that the Captain of a ship can perform marriage ceremonies. I imagine that it takes more than a boat and a boater education certificate to qualify. Maybe someone like Coastal Laker has the right credentials to conduct the ceremony. You could get married on a boat.

Best of luck to you both. I enjoy your posts although sometimes I'm not sure which is Mee and which is Mac writing.

Well thanks to all who responded. And yes I have chores but, alas, this is pretty much the same as it has been (since the ring thing ;) anyway). I was thinking, re: the above and UPS's post, that "Mee" should have her own SN to post by. Now that the server migration is done and seemingly complete, I was thinking about "Mee-not-Mac" ... That way everyone could distinguish her from me, errr ..., "Mac". Mind you she doesn't usually have that much to say here, which is sooo at odds from at home... ouch ... help ... :D

MAC,

All this talk of marriage reminds me of one of the all time great movie classics

"And I feel sure that the merger-- er, the union between the Princess and the brave, but dangerous, Sir Launcelot of Camelot--"

Do you know the movie?

Best wishes!

Mac --- So many of your zany posts remind me so much of the golden days of television and the variety shows with their vaudevillian humor. And as such, in honor of the upcoming nuptuals, I somehow remembered through that haze that is called the aging process, a few thoughts about marriage:

Marriage is an institution that has been around for ages...then again so have prisons.

Marriage will end up being a case of mind over matter...If Mee doesn't mind, then it doesn't matter.

You will remain in charge of the really big items, such as declaring war, raising taxes, and such...Mee will be in charge of all other things.

You may continue to get the last words in, but they will consist of "Yes Dear".

So congrats (probably should add the old saying about it's not too late, but by the time you hear that, it usually is) again.

And seriously....take my wife......Pleeeeeeaaaaasseeee!!!!!!;)

As a wise old man told a young couple I work with when they announced their engagement, "Marriage is like three ring circus. First the engagement ring, next an wedding ring and finally the suffer ring."

Again... best wishes on your up going nuptials

However, it really is what you make of it. All joking aside.... I wish you the utmost in happiness. Don't let the stress of the DAY get to you. It is a special day.... BUT STILL ONLY A DAY. Remember that it is only the BEGINNING of your lives together and do what YOU both want and forget what everyone else wants.

Be positive in life and marriage and positive things will happen!!

How very odd, I thought it was Irish-eagle-swooping-on-mushroom-in-cemetery.com. Must be the new server, pages sweeping past my eyes before I can read them. :D

A thought has just occurred to me. After the ceremony, "Mee" will be "Mac" which brings about quite a dilemna!

Will you become Mac-n-Mac" or perhaps "TwoMacs" or maybe even "Me-n-the-new-Mac". :D

At the ceremony, will the minister say: "I now pronounce you Man and Mac"?

OK, it's late, and I've apparently lost my mind. I'm going to bed now. ;)

I saw that eagle at the lakes region humane society on Farm Island. I was up there this weekend checking out the water levels on all towns that begin with the letter "L".
