How do you dispose of expired Orion Flare.

I was cleaning the garage today and found 4 that had expired back in 2011.

How recreational boaters dispose of expired old flares in Canada.

You can easily give your old flares to your local Canada goose for fast air transport back home to their Canada flare disposal program ....... O Canada!!!

When I did more offshore boating I'd use my expired ones to start campfires, or on the 4th of July for added pyrotechnics. :)

I used a couple to start a flag retirement ceremony or two with the Boy Scouts.

Also good to leave in your car/truck for roadside hazard use. The expiration date is just for the Coast Guard. If they are not all swollen up from moisture they are good for much much much longer than the date.

That is what I was wondering.
They look just fine..

You can tell when they go bad (have been exposed to moisture), then end near the striker cap tends to swell and eventually burst. Once they start to swell, if you try to ignite them they just disintegrate.

I used to rotate mine through,, boat until expire -> wife's car -> my truck, then burn them (by that time they were falling apart). Whenever I got a new set, into the boat they went and start the rotate all over again.
