Old Boat License Plates

I have a Quite collection of some very old NH boat license plates that were given to me by friend.

Does anyone know if there is any interest in these a such as a local boating museum or are they just junk...

There is interest in them, while poking around in one of the "antique" stores in Meredith they had a ton of them from various years in a box. Prices ranged based on condition but they were fetching between 10 and 20 bucks per plate sometimes more for one that was in perfect condition.

Throw them out on Craigslist and see what happens, or somebody on here may want them for decoration.

I definitely have some going back that far and will check...just not sure I want to piece meal them out one or two at a time. I either want to sell them all or donate to a local boat museum or other historical entity that's not going to sell them for profit...

Edited to add: Maybe I will auction them off and donate the proceeds to a local food bank or similar...not sure yet...

I guess I should give credit where it is due...These plates were given to me by an acquaintance / friend named Larry Wood. I only got to know Larry later in life through a close friend who was a very close friend of Larry for most of his life.

Larry was arguably the best motorcycle builder / restorer in the country. He worked with all of the greats of today and yesterday, or should I say they worked with him... If your into motorcycles, some of the stuff he has built and restored would blow your mind. He was a true old school artist and perfectionist! Here is just a couple samples of his work...

At one time Larry lived on Winnipesaukee at the mouth of Smith Cove in Glendale. (Maybe some of you long timers in the area remember him?) He took me by his previous home near the cove when he came to visit a few summers ago. He described his many classic boats he had at one time and I'm sure these plates came from them. It was after this visit that Larry mailed me his old boat license plate collection.

Larry died on August 24th 2019 in Florida. I believe he was 90 years old.

Anyway...a little history to go with the plates.

We have a collection that goes back many years. Up until 1972 they alternated between green letters on white and white letters on green. The last year we have is 1983; i assume they went to bow numbers in 1984.

Not disagreeing with you but I think it might be 1986 (my guess ?). Anyone know when they went with bow nunbers only. I seem to recall it being done when reciprocity was implemented and forced Alaska & New Hampshire to go along with it or risk losing fedral funding.
