There are a few MOA's (Military Operations Area) over the lakes region. They will sometimes do training flights up there - lights out, using night vision goggles. Could have been anything up there.

During the early fall of 1971 my mom, dad, girlfriend and I were traveling north on route 16 down Rochester hill and spotted a ufo in the area of wwnh radio stations three antenna towers. It appeared as a small (tea cup saucer size) orange disk in the distance. It moved instantly to a position over our vicinity and it's size was about two times the size of a bright sunset. It then moved almost instantly to a distant spot, hovered again and then returned. My mom and girlfriend panicked and wanted to be brought home so we rushed them home and my dad and I returned. The ufo had disappeared by the time we had returned. We returned home and called the police to see if other reports had been filed. We were told they would investigate our report and did not comment on other reports.
The object was a bright orange, made no sound and did not flash. To this day I am convinced it was a UFO

P.S.
In less than 24 hours over 100 people were curious enough to read this, yet
no one seems brave enough to talk about their sighting. :(
This is an interesting subject.
Perhaps people are curious whether other members have seen a UFO?
There were member accounts in the other UFO thread. (http://www.winnipesaukee.com/forums/showthread.php?t=690&highlight=unidentified+flying+object)
Whining about a lack of response might have people ignoring your posts.

Believeronwinnisquam, In your P.S. you indicate several people read this thread but did not respond because they may have been afraid to. Just because many read the thread does not mean they had an experience to comment on or that they believe in UFO'S.
Personally, while I believe its possible that there could be life forms or other life somewhere I would have to see something for my own eyes to believe that alien aircraft have come to earth.
I believe UFO'S(UNIDENTIFIED flying objects) are just that, they are unidentified. It does not mean they are alien aircraft.

Fishin fool, of course it was a UFO, it was UNIDENTIFIED. That does not mean it was an alien aircraft from outerspace.

looks as though it would have right up our alley. Hope y'all had a blast...and hope it finds itself again as soon as the ice is out.
See you in September......:)

D oh, come on BOLW, just a little razzin. Somebody who talks about UFOs needs to have a thick skin.
I have never seen any close encounters but I do like to star gaze. I've seen many satellites streak across the sky. Last August I saw what looked like a satellite with an orange flame pushing it. This was seen through binoculars. It was moving very fast across the sky and was very small and high up. I figured it was a military aircraft flying very high, lights out. Who knows. I also see lots of A-10s flying around the lake, sometimes doing dogfight type maneuvers.

Seen one myself. With my brother. Years ago. Looking out from West Alton to the north/northeast.

Just cause you cant explain them doesnt mean you are a quack, and what is wrong with a little fun poking?? Be a sport. Lived in Gulf Breeze, Florida for a while. A "hot spot" for ufo sightings, never saw a thing there, cant say the same for Winnipesaukee though. In the early eighties, the dogs started barking and a light zipped across the whole sky, followed by 5 fighter type planes a few minutes later, and much slower, not even 25% of the speed that the orange light went by......
