We went out today for what will probably be our last cruise this season and we couldn't believe the day. It rivaled the best of summer days. We went across the broads from Gilford to Wolfboro, lunched on the Upper Deck (fabulous dining and view), relaxed on the boat and watched the commings and goings (speculating by watching dockings, who was experienced and who were newbies) then returned to Gilford via Barbers Pole and The Hole in the Wall. The boat gets hauled out next week and the season couldn't have come to a better end. Heres hoping all you lucky stiffs still in the water have the same great weather for the next 3-4 weeks. Enjoy every minute of it. :)

Really and truly a beautiful weekend. Couldn't have asked for any better. We even had the kids out TUBING! (without wetsuits.)
I am hoping to have at least one more weekend like this.
Hope you all got to enjoy it.

We, too, took advantage and headed out this afternoon. Visited some friends on Camp Island, who were also taking advantage of this great weather. We took the plunge into 64 degree water....and emerged refreshed and with some bragging rights!
The water was not bad at all -- it certainly wasn't 78 degrees -- but was nice for this time of year.
More of the same weather predicted for the next few days. May have to play hooky tomorrow or Tuesday! :D
On another note -- VERY few trees have changed or are starting to change color up here. Very odd year for that, I must say. I heard that lack of a killing frost...lack of rain...etc.

In terms of foliage, we're doing some work up in Woodstock - not much up their either.

My wife, myself and our two boys took to the water today as well. We enjoyed a trip from Paugus Bay, accross the broads, around Rattlesnake Island and back to Paugus Bay. The weather was spectacular. Warm air, no wind and relatively few boats made for a wonderful "almost" last run of the year. I hope to get out one more time next weekend before calling it a "season". '05 has definitely been one of those exceptional "boating" years. I can only hope that '06 will be the same way.
Enjoy the next few days.....those of you who have the good fortune to be at the lake that is :)

Certainly a lot of boats out there today (Sun). Probably more than a few doing the final cruise as well as Aquadeziac. We were out both yesterday (few boats) and today. Noticed quite a few bass boats (was there a tournament or just to nice to pass up) as well a quite a few old wood boats (these last 2 weeks actually). Hoping we get a few more weekends like this or at least until the leaves turn.

The Meredith town docks resembled a Summer weekend. We waited almost 15 minutes for a spot along with the 4 or 5 other boats waiting for spots. I knew the craft fair was a big draw but....WOW! Anyway way stayed for dinner at Giuseppis(sp) and we were treated to an AWESOME sunset cruise back out to Cow Island. We saw maybe 3 or 4 boats on the way back.
The Sunday boat traffic was noticeably higher. My place looks across at the Barbers Pole and I was amazed at the amount of boats. Everyone enjoying the last cruise. Hopefully this continues because I have no intention of putting the boat away until the end of October!!!! :liplick:
I did see some brave tubers out around Sandy Island on Saturday. Brrrrrrr. Funny how kids will supress the cold feeling all for the thrill of a ride on the tube. Looked like fun though.

Hey, what's all this talk about last cruises? There's still another good two months of boating......just put on a sweater! The lake is truly peaceful in October and November. It's a whole different experience. (Just be sure to wear PFD's when the water temp drops below 50.)
Let the fun continue!
You'al are talking about how great the weather was and still is today, boating, and BIG ones at that, tubing and even in swimming. Now me and the oldest son were out in the traffic in Meredith hauling 4 snowmobiles around and sitting in the traffic. Come'on snow and ice.
Sunday was beautiful on the lake. Wolfboro around 2 was like a summer day trying to find parking at the town docks was crazy.(of course there is still always that idiot that even though theres 5 people waiting for a spot, he thinks he has the right to just cut in front of everybody and snag the next available spot). We finally endend up going under the bridge into back bay thanks to the water level. Little dissapointed in the lack of Scarecrows this year compared to last year. Maybe it still a little too early.

This weekend was the best Oct in memory. We went to Braun Bay Sunday and we were actually swimming and floating around in the water! The water was very warm and the sun took away any chill that may have lingered from last night. Very few boats were there. It was almost like heaven! We took a midnight cruise from Wolfeboro to Gilford. Light pollution was way down and the aurora and the stars were really bright. I love this time of year! The classic car and boat show Saturday was awesome! :D

I was surprised at the number of boats out this afternoon. Not many, but more than I expected. Mostly sailboats. Went in the water, not as bad as I though it would be. Did a nice slow cruise to Wolfeboro for lunch and Smalls Cove for a dip.
BTW, have to agree about the car and boat show on Saturday - great :)
