One can tell when it is race day in Loudon. The helicopter has begun it's runs to the race track. The darn thing flies so low going over the lake and home it actually shakes certain items on the shelves. As I key this in it's on it's third trip back to the home front to pickup more guest I'm assuming. The grand kids just love it and wave at it each trip by. Now if I had it for an hour or so, so they could take me home, I would really appreciate it. :)

When will the high traffic begin... do most people wait until the end of the last race?

Wow! So glad I'm not there this weekend...I hate race traffic!

Ahhhhhyes...... but think of the addition Bahre will be able to put on his Palace this year. THATS what makes it all worth it, right?? Knowing your money is going to a good cause.

Considering what Briar Motorsports Park looked like (and contriubuted to the NH economy) prior to Bahre's ownership, he can add whatever he likes ;)

In terms of disruption, traffic, etc, except for the airport, we never notice much in Gilford except for the increased volume at Walmart :D

Left Moultonboro at 8:00 and home already 10:20, normal trip. Slightly heavier traffic but all moving at the limit. Thats using 93 from exit 23 thru Boston, very well organized around Concord.

We had no problem with traffic. We left Tuftonboro at 5:00 pm, saw a slight increase in race traffic at both Alton Circle and Epsom Circle. We stayed on route 28 into Allenstown and got on the Everett TPK just north of Manchester. Tool boths were a breeze. Two and a half hours home in central MA is normal for us. Last year we left later and went through Concord. Though they manage traffic well, it was still backed up.

My brother and I left Tuftonboro @ 9:45 sharp, went through Alton and Epsom circles and then reverted to a cherished "old" route down 28/3 to Hooksett -- thereby totally avoiding Concord/Loudon. We made the MA border in 1:38, and posted a new family record -- door to door from Melvin to my house in an astounding 6:46 (and this included filling an empty tank in Wolfe City and sitting down for lunch in CT.

The gauntlet has been thrown down, the line drawn in the sand, the lofty standard set. Other family members now quake in our presence. (Best of all, he and I can no longer compete for 'best time' since we were both in the car. Now, if I can only replicate this feat with my wife, four kids, and dog in the family truckster...) :D

Grant, no, matter how well you plan, put in advance warning, if a women is riding with you, you can never get from here to there without taking forever!! I have succombed to taking seperate vehicles. "See ya there!" I know this would be difficult for you, but maybe you and your brother in one vehicle and the wives, kids, and dogs in the other.

Congratulations to the NH State Police!

Last evening, we left Laconia at 5:30 PM after watching the race on TV at the lake. Drove home on I-93 to the North Shore of Massachusetts and saw no noticable increase in traffic in Concord or in the two-lane section of I-93 south of Manchester. Whatever problem existed in the past has been addressed. None of the predicted "nighmares" developed.

To me, the race traffic for the September Nascar race is a complete non-issue.
