Hi everyone, for those familiar with the differences of rigid displacement vs planing hulls in the SUP, can you comment if roughly 11' displacement hull will behave OK in rough waters with all the boat wakes around. Should I look for more maneuverability in a planing hull to navigate the wakes?
Thanks!

I expect a displacement hull will break the wakes better than a planing hull that tries to ride over them.

Either one, displacement with a pointy bow, or planing with the curvy bow will work good, as long as they are big enough, 10'6", or 11'6" for the paddler's weight and skill-energy level.
The displacement pointy bows are really a modified planer that planes along with a pointy bow, and is not a total displacement design ..... it's sort of a semi-displacement.
If you paddle a sup without enough buoyancy/support for your weight, it make you feel tippy, like you on the verge of rolling into the water, unless you paddle hard. Getting the right size/buoyancy is important and there's different places to rent a sup around the lake. Sups come in a big range of size, shape, design and price, so is best to rent before you buy ..... so's you get it right, your first sup buy.

Walmart-Gilford has relatively heavy, sturdy sups and kayaks for under $400
Walmart-Plymouth has kayaks for under $500 including the infamous Ozark Trail ProAngler 12' for $497, a sit-down in a large comfy lounger chair or stand-up, 70-lb, fishing, paddling, kayak-sup combination in darkest dark green/gray or green-green-yellow, three color camouflage.
With that ProAngler-12, is possible to be doing that downward dog, yoga position and sett'n that fish'n hook into a small mouth bass, all at the same time. Best $497 you ever spent!

Speaking of those things, was interesting to have a look at a SUP on display at the NH boat show this past weekend that broke into three pieces for easy storage or transport. Seemed like a pretty cool idea and well made in the way the pieces indexed one another and were held together with nice heavy duty stainless snap down nicely countersunk clips.
