I know that this is a little off the lake, Plaistow, but this guy's wheel fell off during the storm, and it snows at the lake, so see, there is a connection. :)

He kept driving after it happened. He said he was not aware he had lost his tire and apparently he drove quite a long way. The tire and wheel were turned in to the Atkinson Police.

The vehicle is either an Expedition or an Explorer. I didn't know that they rode so rough (or were so noisy) that you wouldn't know if you were missing a wheel!

Maybe there was something else involved...............

Many, many, years ago I worked at a gas station right off the interstate. I remember a guy driving his car into the station with half a front wheel. He had a flat on the highway and just kept on driving about 15 miles or so. People came in after him and said they saw sparks flying 6' in the air.

The guy was so stoned he had no clue he ever had a flat. He wore the wheel in half and the frame was dragging on the road.

Maybe he knows that he has a spare tire, but the story says he didn't even know he lost the wheel.

That is the "head scratcher" for me. How could you not know you lost a wheel?

It's a Ford Explorer.
Lucky that it was a Ford because a Chevy would have fallen apart driving that way.

Not true! A lot to cars now either have “runflats” or come with a can of tire inflator (we used to call it green goop) instead of a spare.

AT MINIUM the little idiot light would have come on the dash indicating he had a tire low on pressure.

That light will come on if the tire is low on pressure, if the battery dies in the sensor or is otherwise "out of detection range". In this case I'd say the detection range is not quite a couple towns over.

Oh man don't ever use fix a flat - that stuff is nasty and literally destroys the aforementioned TPM sensors.

Not all vehicles have those, especially older vehicles.

Also, the sensors are not cheap and some people choose to ignore the warning light rather than fix the system. I think, in 2007 and newer vehicles equipped with sensors, you cannot pass a New Hampshihre Inspection and get a sticker with out the sensors working.

My Nissan took 3 days to figure out the sensors were not in range.

With the vehicle in question being an exploder, I'm surprised it made it as far as it did with all the wheels attached.
