Some time back Outlaw brought up the subject of a Fundraiser at ForumFest II. I can't locate the original post, so I'm starting a new thread.
In light of the dire situation all along the Gulf Coast, and the plea put forth by the American Red Cross, how would everyone feel about raising funds for them? It's going to take a long time and a whole lot of money to begin restoring normalcy. Perhaps our little community can get together and help that community?
Waddayasay?

So do we want to do the silent auction / raffle thing last last year ?
ps - "Mee" and I used to go the the French Quarter festival for some years running, although we've not been able to lately. We thought we might go this year but were OBE. Now it appears that it'll be at least 2 years before they'll be back on their feet.

Count me in whatever the plan is. My heart goes out to those who have been devastated by Katrina. Let me know what I can do to help. McD

Hi All,
Talk about deja vu! I read this about a year ago and thought I would share. From National Geographic, October 2004.

Perhaps we should take more seriously the warnings we receive about the future of our lake and natural resources at home in NH?
Just a thought,
Gravy

I think also, that donations coming from this website would accualy reach the victims of the Gulf Coast dissaster.
Make no mistake, the recovery and long term rebuilding prosses will take several years. Many large corperations have donated millions of dollars to help these people move foward. All donations, large or small will help!
Just a side note. From 1973 to 2003, NHSA has donated over $1,641,161.62 to Easter Seals through the snowmobile clubs here in New Hampshire.
Lets Help!
Thank you, Pepper

OK! By the looks of these posts, and the emails I've been receiving, it appears that I'd better start organizing this right away! I've gotten emails with offers of some amazing items to sell/raffle/auction, so it looks like I'll be starting there. I'm going to need some help from somebody who's organized this sort of thing before, with regard to how to handle the accountability, and the transfer of the funds, etc.
Anybody an expert at these sorts of things? HELP!
In the meantime, I'm focusing my energy on prayers for all those suffering. I feel so helpless. At least I know that together we will do all that we can to help. You people are warming my heart.

Are you looking for people to donate things for a raffle/auction like we did last year ?

Yes, Sir! Any and all items will be appreciated. :look:
Got something in mind?
Anybody else????
Mrs. DRH (a/k/a Peg) is an avid quiltmaker, and she is donating one of her new handmade quilts to be raffled off at ForumFest II on Saturday to raise funds to help the folks whose lives have been turned upside down by Hurricane Katrina.
The quilt measures 44" X 68" (a perfect "snuggling" size, she says), and it is all hand quilted. The fabrics and inside batting are all natural cotton. The design is called "Maple Leaf", and it is very colorful like fall foliage. The quilt's actual value is unknown, but it will keep someone warm for many years to come! Here's a photo:

So folks, now you see one of the wonderful treats which will be available at the forum fest! We're hoping lots of you will show up with items for the fundraiser, so we can raise lots of money for those who's lives have been changed forever.
Bring any items along with you, and we'll be delighted to include them - no item too small or too large!
Looking forward to seeing everyone on Saturday!!! :D
