View Full Version : Spring bears & bird feeders
I heard a rumor the other day that bears are starting to appear . . . is this the time to bring in the bird feeders?

Seems a bit early with so much snow cover still in the woods and higher elevations...however, I guess when they come out they come out! Their first targets will be the bird seed, no doubt as there aren’t any greens for them to graze yet...wont be long though!
Post up your pics of the feeder pigs when they show...

I put mine away yesterday. NH Fish and Game says to do so by the end of March, and they are warning of early bear appearances this year. We lost feeders in the past from procrastinating, so now when the birds seem to slow down their visits and it is the end of March, away they go!

What is “lake ridge”? I can’t find it on a map!

Lake Ridge is a private development off of Upper Mile Point Drive. A very large bear climbed up on my deck 2 weeks ago. Pulled down a bird feeder and made a mess on the deck. I thought it was too early for bears, but I was wrong!

Ahh thank you! Yes those bird feeders are bear magnets.
Thanks all. We brought them in yesterday with the exception of two thistle feeders. Those are only out during the day now, but will be brought in permanently within the next few days. :)
