Energy Loss Assessment?

My recollection is that NHEC used to conduct free assessments of whether (and where) a home may be losing energy (e.g., heat or AC)...in order for the homeowner to determine if things like more insulation, better windows, etc. were needed. If NHEC used to do that, it does not look like they still do, as I read their website.

Are there any suggestions for how to get an objective assessment of a home's energy losses, along with recommended steps to address them?

Our main home is in Dover, we are on Eversource here. There is a program called nhsaves that I believe runs with all of the providers. If you qualify using their online tool you pay $100 for the audit. They will credit 50% of the first $8k in work if done by their provider. We went through this, they were contracted with Yankee Thermal Imaging out of Rochester. We opted to proceed and had insulation blown in, all lighting upgraded to led, and some other air sealing items addressed. Great program.

I second the program! This program is also available for new constructions. They will even suggest contractors/subcontractors.

This won't help but it reminds me off my brother in law who use to walk around his 1760's farm house with a candle. Soon he realized he had to carry a lighter as well.
