Hi Everyone,

Long time reader first time writer...hopefully this is the correct sub-forum otherwise, my apologies to the moderators.

This weekend my mother remembered she used to visit Winnipesaukee during the summer as a child. I was curious if anyone knew where this photo might have been taken?

Thanks!https://images34.fotki.com/v1633/photos/6/925706/14443931/Onthelake-vi.png

I believe it's Weirs Beach. I see Howard Johnson's in the background.

This view shows how HoJo's would have been in the background in a photo taken on the beach.

Cool, Faro's/Lobster Pound used to be a HoJo's? And look at all those trees!

Looks like late 1950s based on the cars.

There is a '57 Ford Fairlane and a '55 or'56 Chevy among the cars

Pretty good guess. The right hand side of the photo is stamped "August 61".

Wow! Thanks for the help everyone and I'd agree judging by the photos it does look like Weirs beach. Amazing how much it's changed yet still looks the same.

That's a 1961 Ford Falcon in the middle—available at dealers following new rollouts of September, 1960.

Nobody has mentioned the building to the right . I remember that. Was it a drive in?

Don't know In that photo but that is what was before it burned down was the Wide Open Saloon and the motel that was attached, it looks like it was a motel in that photo as well, drive-in entrance down the middle to the entrance building before opening to the parking area for drive in

Well I blew it. I saw 57 and 58 cars and also noted the Falcon but forgot that the Falcon was but a baby in 1960.

And I did not scroll right to see the photo date of 1961. My high school grad year.

Anyway, always great to see the old photos, thanks to the OP.

Ford Falcon in picture. 1961 was first year for that model. Thanks Lee Iacocca .

The owners Skip and Carol McClean in the early 70s attached an old train station to the right side of the building it was called The Gandy Dancer Saloon.

Made a great “Skip & Go Naked”!
