Greetings, we are considering taking the plunge and ordering some long term food items (Up to 6 months worth). I am confident that there are many on this NH forum who have stockpiled food for whatever may come.
Can you let us know what brand you chose and why ? Canned, Freeze Dried, etc. Did you buy Online, Costco/Sam's Club, Local etc
Any assistance would be helpful.
Admin.... if this post is in the wrong place, please advise.
Thanks to all !

If you have a Sam's Club membership they sell the "Augason" brand of emergency food rations. They come in all different sizes and configurations with up to a 30 year shelf life if stored properly. Best to check it out on their web site. No one can touch Sam's price on this stuff either.

I don't know if you get to Hooksett very often, but the last time I was in Riley's Gun shop, they had a whole assortment of this sort of thing. I think to feed the 'dooms day preppers' type of person? If you're not near there, you may want to call ahead to see if they still have it.
I think also Kittery Trading Post had some.

You can get as suggested stuff that is dehydrated and lasts for 30 years but I'd argue who the heck wants to eat that stuff.. if you've ever had a mil spec MRE... yuck can't be much better. It's expensive though. Yes Riley's does keep a wide selection of dooms day stuff in the lower level there.
Or you can do what I did, build some shelves in your basement and buy in bulk when stuff is on sale, pretty soon you got a nice supply of food that you use and when it starts getting low buy more. Instead of buying a can or two at a time we buy cases at a time. Even better add a chest freezer and can do the same thing. Just keep rotating it out and you have a constant supply that is as big as you want it to be. Nice thing in the spring when it's time to stock the camp instead of going to the grocery store I hit the basement and stock the pantry.
If you go the route of a freezer, wise idea to get a vacuum sealer - we buy tons of meat on sale and freeze it, and load up on dirt cheap post holiday turkeys and hams.... never mind a deer usually ends up in there after a successful hunting season!

Mountain House has very good tasting freeze dried food, marketed primarily to backpackers, but with a couple of different emergency options. I've enjoyed it for 4-5 day trips, it lasts for 30 years.

I buy from this company. I tested the food with a small order before I placed a large order, and it was great:

Second for Mountain House.....stockpiled some freeze dried meals in Florida for just such an event as we went through recently.
Tried some just for the heck of it and it's really not too bad.
I's suggest getting #10 cans due to being rodent proof.

Mountain House has been the top name for a while now, but you pay for it. Augason is decent as well, and bulk specials are frequent on BJ's and Sam's Club websites. Watch the caloric count when buying to make sure you are really getting your moneys worth. Some will give you large # of meals or low pricing per serving, but it can come with low calorie counts per serving/meal.
There are plenty of people that say bad things about Wise, although they have been around for a while as well. Heard their stuff is very salty.
I don't own any long term storage food, but have looked into it in the past.
We've stocked up on a variety of Mountain House meals and have tried several of them. The stuff actually tastes very good!

Mountain House are great, but if I'm going to be eating them for six months, shoot me now.
For real, though, Chicken and Rice, lasagna, and sweet and sour pork are all pretty good. And don't forget the ice cream sandwich--surviving the apocalypse is easier with snacks.
