I saw Winni this morning

I got up about 7 this morning and was hanging out by the breakfast nook (out side) the lake was dead flat calm, very peaceful morning, and out of nowhere a wake appeared in the distance! With fish jumping out of the water just in front of it! No boat traffic whatsoever. Went inside to get my camera and she was gone.

Let that be a lesson, always have your camera with you while at the lake! Bummer you missed Winni. Keep a sharp eye out.

Many years ago, Paul and I were out on our deck on a smooth as glass lake morning, when we spotted what we thought was a rouge wave, but no boats had been by. It was long enough to notice and disappeared quickly. Poof, the wave was gone. Do eels ever come to the top?

Winni is most likely a muskrat, otter or beaver...if chasing fish, an otter. At a distance you may not see a tiny head above the water line...sorry to burst your monster bubbles! :D

On a more serious note , I often fish very early in the day and very often get on the water before the sun comes up and the lake is flat. You get to see a lot of things that you generally don't see after the wind and breeze comes up and ripples the water. If I had to guess you might have seen a beaver swimming or an otter. They generally swim very silently with there heads only just above a water leaving a wake that appears to be coming out of nowhere then stops and starts again.

Once in a while you get to see deer crossing but that you more than likely would have been able to identify.
