Simple rule. People swimming near your boat and especially when they are attempting to board means engine is off, no exceptions.

Simple rule. People swimming near your boat and especially when they are attempting to board means engine is off, no exceptions.I take it one step further: I remove the key from the ignition, hold it up, and announce, "The key is out of the ignition". I then put the key on the dashboard (NOT back in the ignition).
Before putting the key back in the ignition, I announce that I am about to put the key in the ignition and start the engine. This gives anyone a chance to say, "Wait, Mark Spitz is still in the water".
