View Full Version : Water Aerator

Not to Worry

I have some muck that I would like to get rid of. Too much to remove by hand. I was wondering if an aerator might help it decompose. An Aerator would help provide oxygen to speed up the process. I assume if it is ok to run ice eaters in the winter it would also be legal to run and aerator over the summer.

Any ever tried to do this? Is it legal? Did it work?

You would need a permit from NHDES. It is highly unlike that we would approve one. Circulators that run over the winter are only supposed to move the water enough to prevent freezing. The same cold temps that make it necessary to run them suppress biological activity. Running a circulator in warm water conditions to encourage biological decay can lead to algae blooms and harmful conditions within the water column and thus are unlikely to be approved.
