I wish I had thought to post this earlier...
For those of you that have lost power for more than a day, you may want to turn your water main off until your home heats up fully again. I would then suggest turning the water main back on with all the home's faucets turned off and listening very carefully for any flow through the main valve. There are bound to be some frozen and burst pipes in some of the homes in the outage area.
If you have a seasonal neighbor or two that you can contact about this, I'm sure they would appreciate a call. Frozen pipes are a relatively minor nuisance, but water flowing unchecking from a burst pipe behind a wall for days on end would be a really big problem.
