Pretty sure that's a female hooded merganser. If you zoom in and look closely at the beak you can see the turned down end usually a dead give away for a merganser. The eared grebe has a pointed beak...

I could be wrong though....

Are you sure that's not just the wind blowing the feathers back to make it look hooded? :laugh:

It was facing into the wind so no wind blown feathers here.
