Epicenter was about a half mile west of our house, and my seismic alarm, aka wife, never felt it. There was a lot of chatter on Alton community FB pages about who felt it and how strongly.

Several Alton residents commented on the Alton Community Facebook page that they heard a large bang and wondered if anyone else heard it. It seems the time they heard it was the time that the earthquake was detected. I seem to recall another small earthquake that occurred while we were there in the summertime and we also heard a loud bang. The following day there was a report of a small earthquake in Alton.
Here in northern NJ, we felt a larger earthquake several years ago that was centered in northern VA. We felt a tremor for about 10 seconds and I remember the necklaces hanging on hooks in my jewelry armoire were hitting the side of the case as they swayed.
