Hey snowmobilers - wondering if folks usually take day trips on their snow mobiles or spend the whole weekend out cruising around? We own a rental property on a major snow mobile route (route 15 near Lakeport) and were wondering if we might expect snowmobilers to be interested in renting. We didn't have any groups last year who were of the snowmobiling community but that may have been because of the weather. Do groups sometimes look for a home in the area for "home base" or do groups travel from one location to the next on weekends and not stay at the same place? Interested in your feedback. Thanks!

I assume your talking about a cottage / home rental and not a snowmobile correct??
In NH I would guess that 95% of snowmobilers' do day trips and not saddlebag trips meaning traveling and staying at different places overnight. Most people will have a base camp and simply ride out of that same base camp on a daily basis.

I would agree with this.

I think most hardcore snowmobilers would be apt to rent further north where the trail system is a little better. Twin Mountain is usually the first stopping point - much of that is also because the conditions are more stable than in the lakes region. That said wouldn't hurt to try, might even attract some ice fisherman as there are a number of lakes that can be accessed from Corridor 15 either to the north or south after a short ride.

Yes, sorry, should have clarified...we own a year round rental property. Wondering if we might expect renters of our home for snow season.

I think you would more likely have skiers and fishermen than you would snowmobilers. Best thing to do is list your place noting ALL the wonderful things to do in the area and and include snowmobiling and see what bites...
Good luck!

Definitely - we have all of that great stuff highlighted on our listing. Last year we had a good mix of pond hockey players, skiers and ice fishermen...but no snowmobilers. Definitely due to lack of snow but this winter, which hopefully brings a normal amount of snow, wondering if the house would attract snowmobilers. We would love for groups to rent our house for that reason - it just seems so convenient with Route 15 right in our front yard and would seem like a lot of fun. Definitely something I want to do in the coming years!
Just do the world a favor and make sure your phone number is right on your listing. A "Beverly" is renting a house in Glen and has my cell number posted on her advertisement. It is driving me crazy.

Could you post a link to the website or how I can get more info. We(myself and my boys) like to rent a house when we go snowmobiling. One on 15 sounds great. If there is snow this year.
