MEREDITH — A man found laying in the roadway on Route 3 was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.

A police officer had been at the town docks when a vehicle pulled up along side him, and said there was a man laying in the roadway just south of the traffic circle on Sunday at about 1:05 a.m.

The officer responded to the area and found the approximately 30-year-old man injured near Grouse Point.

The man was unresponsive when police arrived, and was taken by ambulance to Lake Region General Hospital with serious injuries. The man was still in the hospital as of Wednesday in stable condition, police said.

Police are investigating a "couple of scenarios" of what could have happened. The identity of the man is not being released at this time.

Police are asking anyone with information to call them at 603-279-4561
