When we were out today we noticed that the big white house behind Horse Island past the Cattle Landing was gone. I think it was there last week. It looked like a nice place. One can only guess what's taking its place if someone thought it should be torn down.

Oh well ...... there goes the neighborhood?

According to the Meredith public tax record, ...... 88 Cattle Landing Rd ...... it was originally built in 1900, and last sold on September 3, 2015, for 2-million dollars. It is assessed for $2,076,500 and also includes a second, very nice new (1998) guest house with two bedrooms, a new(1998) three car garage, and a continuous flow indoor swimming pool. So's for 2-mil bucks on that super-duper peninsular, partially filled in, year-1900 location of 1.06 acre ...... it certainly seems like someone got a great value. In the early 1980's or so, it was home to the Golden Horse Shoe, pizza parlor; a pizza by boat, pizza place. In about 1997-98, it was totally, totally, totally renovated by Boston Bruins left defense, Dmitri Khristich, originally from Ukraine, and his wife from Meredith.

Rumor has it the new owners will be building another boat-in pizza parlor, also named the Golden Horse Shoe, except it will be much bigger and much better!

Viva the Golden Horse Shoe .... pizza by boat!:rolleye2:

Dang it ....it's amazing what can be done with some smart money and good planning ........ something tells me the town will be increasing its assessment for next year.

As of today, Aug 15, the demo excavator machine is still at work tearing down the large, old, three story house. Two house painters were there with an aerial lift in June, 2015, for maybe 4-weeks, painting the exterior ....... first new paint in about 18-years.......so's that's one expensive paint job to last for just one year:D!

Was around in the '60's.

Bringing it back in greater glory than the original would be great!

We knew Steve Chicola, the owner back then, was having problems when he reduced the pepperoni pizza to 1 piece per slice and one in the middle. Created a lot of family fights over who got the 2nd piece of pepperoni.

FLL - Any more news in this regard? Who, what, when, how and why?

My wife tells me the pepperoni story at least once a year. Back in the day it sounded like it was a real treat. Steve was one of the neighbors.

Its going to be a pizza place?

Absolutely, positively, absolutely ...... it will be a pizza-by-boat, boat-in, pizza parlor ..... and the pepperoni pizza will have just one slice of pepperoni on each slice ..... plus one in the center ..... tradition!
