Would it be frowned upon if I were to anchor my pontoon boat outside of the buoys at Carry Beach and then take the family ashore on a 3 person inflatable raft (no motor)?
Thanks!

It's a public beach, but if you want to row over the swim lines, I think that's not allowed. The phone is 569-5639. Let us know what you learn.
If anchoring "outside the buoys", you don't want to hinder navigation.

There are places either side of the swim line where you can bring in an inflatable raft. Anchoring off the beach is not a problem as long as you know where the rocks are in the area.

Thanks everyone, Ill consult the old Bizer chart for the rocks.

Just aim your pontoon boat dead-center to the beach, putt-putt in, and you'll miss the boulders and the markers. The bottom there is a mix of rocks and sand. With a pontoon boat, you'll want 7:1 scope on the anchor rode, but don't anchor where changing winds could "sail" your boat to block others' navigational view of the markers. Blocking the navigational view of the Carry Beach buoys is another consideration.
• To the right (SE) of all the buoys, there's a space about 20-feet wide to the South on the beach. Kayakers launch there—sometimes, six at a time—but there's room to store your inflatable out of the way. :look:
• Interesting snorkeling/diving item: on the bottom, to your left, in about 15-feet of clear water, is a sunken wooden rowboat—filled with rocks. :eek2:
• Keep an eye to the NW: Cumulo-ominous clouds build up afternoons in easy view from Carry Beach. Operating an inflatable against a strong NW wind wouldn't be fun!
• A caution: Use sun screen and towel-off all water droplets immediately upon leaving the water. With the "right" (NW) winds, the shallows of Carry Beach readily concentrate "Duck-Itch" cercaria!
• While you're at Carry Beach, be sure to bring your camera: ;)
