View Full Version : Mobile home removal
Major problem
06-23-2016, 06:43 PM
My Dad passed away recently and his mobile home has to be removed from the park it's in. The park owner is not allowing full time residents anymore and it has been difficult to find anyone to buy it with that restriction on it.
The rent due for the lot continues to accumulate. My sister and I would be wiling to give it away but the buyer would have to pay to move it quickly.
I've searched the forums and Googled for a company that will take it for parts/salvage value.
The trailer is livable and we'd like to avoid paying a demolition company to smash it up and stick it in a landfill if somebody can use it as is.
Can anyone here point me in the right direction ?

Unless its in your name why not simply walk away from it .
The owner changed the rules let him handle the consequence .

I was in this exact same situation when my dad passed a number of years ago. His mobile home was old and the park wanted it removed. I simply told them to do what you want with it which they gladly did.
In this case Billy Bob is right. The trailer park are the experts in moving these things, let them deal with it. I wouldn't call it walking away more like your giving it to them to do whatever they wish.
Sorry about your dad...

How old is it. I know people move them north for hunting & snowmobile camps but 25 years is about as old as they like

Sorry to hear of your loss. Where is the mobile home located? You might be able to post it on craigslist or if in this area you could post on the classifieds on this site. As others have mentioned you could also tell the park they can have it. You could also post the mobile home for very cheap or free intending for someone to buy it and keep it there and they just have to pay the fees.

The previous posts seem right in line....
However some more specifics might help.... such as what year is the Mobile Home? What manufacture? What size and condition?
The older it is, and more outdated it is the less likely you are to find someone that will want it. Especially if it can't be used in place.....
The one thing that hasn't been mentioned here, and if it is new enough, you might be able to find a dealer that will remove it for you and sell it on consignment at their lot......
Sorry for your loss and I hope that the information you find here helps....
