Snow Ski and Water Ski same day

Gunstock's website says five lifts and thirty trails are open. The lake is open. I recall being on the lake after an early April ice-out and seeing snow at Gunstock. Has anybody water skied Winni and snow skied Gunstock (using a lift) the same day?

Back in the 80's I skied Killington in May and water skied 4 days later. That's the closest I've come.

Ice out was declared on Lake Winnipesaukee. Loon was open with 90% of the trails fully groomed 12" base. Ski in the morning and enjoyed water skiing on the lake that afternoon! Thanks for the memories.

That year the ski areas had to close due to lack of help not snow. Everyone had to return to their seasonal jobs.

Really? Does loon usually close earlier than other mountains? I feel like I can remember skiing Maine to the end of April for a couple of years.

I've had a pass there since 2011, and Loon's last day since then has been in April. This year's planned last day is April 10, and that won't be due to lack of snow on the trails, even this year. I was up there yesterday, and it was wonderful. They do a consistently good job of making snow when weather allows and grooming it every night. They made a pile of it last Friday and Saturday nights, but that's the last snowmaking for them for this year.

Like many ski areas, Loon often or usually has to pick a closing day well ahead of time, as many of their employees have other-season jobs lined up in advance and have to leave, although last year's great natural snow season led to their extending it to I think the 19th. Then, too, attendance peters out as a ski area gets into April, as the folks from the more populated areas to the south, seeing bare back yards and flowers blooming there lose interest, and economics comes into play. Toward the end of the season, Loon closes down the South Mountain area first, then the west basin area, shrinking back to just the main Loon Peak area and East Basin. As of yesterday, the west basin area still was going strong.

I'm a self proclaimed "slush- aholic" since discovering Killington in May back in '82, so I have always looked for places that stay oping late. You could normally count on Loon being the last open on the I93 corridor. Always open until Easter and normally Mid April then they would close due to the reasons given above.

Riding a snowboard in deep slush is like a never ending wave.:)

No.....but my kids live in Hood River, Oregon and this time of year, they can play nine holes of golf in the morning and go skiing at Mt. Hood in the afternoon.

Mt. Hood seems like a pretty epic place to go.

I came close this year--went skiing at Sunapee Friday (in the pouring rain) and boating out near my house Saturday. Good weekend nonetheless!

My son and I skied the Palmer Glacier at Mt. Hood three years ago and it was great. The past 2 years we skied Mt. Bachelor, a little east of Hood, and it is even more awesome. They had 37' of snowfall there by mid April.

In Bend, OR, a half hour from Bachelor, they have SURFING in the DeSchutes River. Google it, we watched and it was cool. Water skiing would also be possible, I suppose, on that river.

Oregon is the best place to live! My kids live in Hood River. Mt. Hood had 35' of snow this year......it's still open on weekends. Down in the valley, it's 72 degrees. They play nine holes of golf in the morning and ski in the afternoon.!

Is that right? 37 feet of snow?
That's a fantastic experience. But not the same as Gunstock and Winni on the same day.

I'm impressed with some unique ski/ski experiences that have come onto this thread. What a diversified group of (mostly) lakes region people.
