Hi. I am hoping to rent a house on Welch Island for two weeks this summer. The owner recommended Fay's to launch the boat and park and their rates seemed reasonable for the two weeks. But I asked about day or short term visitors and they said $20 per day, which seems a lot to ask of visitors especially if they stay a few days. Does anyone know of other options in that area?

The owner of the house on Welch has the option each year of obtaining up to 3 guest passes for parking at the Town facility in Glendale. The passes cost the owner a one time charge of $25 each per year at Town Hall.

Ask the owner for use of one or more of the passes as part of the rental. Of couse they must be returned to the owner as they are not replaceable.

BTW, launch at Fay's will take some maneuvering and is better done on a week day if possible.

Seconded! Get a pass (or two) and park at Glendale. There is also a place to put your boat trailer.

We stayed on Welch many times before finally buying a place on Rattlesnake. That's where we parked.

I heard there was some change involving overnight parking. That change (if indeed there is one) happened after we were done renting there. Maybe it's nothing --- someone who has a place on Welch would know.

Can't park your boat or trailer there even with a pass but with a "park and launch " pass you can use the launch and park your car there but trailer must go over near skating rink if there's room. If there's no room contact Dave at Daves boatyard and for a small fee you can store your trailer there.

There is no regulation I am aware of with overnight parking with a pass. Do not attempt to park there without a pass as you will be ticketed.

The owner of the camp should GIVE you passes during your stay. I would definitely ask for them!

Those passes are irreplaceable, so when the pass is on the dash of your car be sure it is locked. If I were the landlord, I'd want an extra deposit for the pass alone.

Exactly right. I used to park and launch there for years with one of those passes but the trailer parking only for non residents started about 5 years ago and I cant do that anymore. It was probably people like me why this changed.:emb:

When I used to rent our place I provided passes, but basically told people up front I would keep their security deposit if they lost them. A $1000 penalty if they lost them was always enough of a deterrent to get them back each time.
